Have been for a few years even though I live in the village. Great refurbishment which felt great as super Christmas decorations. You can have 2 courses for £12.95 or 3 for 13.95. Not loads of choice but the best restaurants do a few dishes very well. I never have carvery as experience tells me they are cold but the couple we were with opted for this and said it was very hot. I had the fish and chips which was the best I had eaten for ages. Desserts were varied with a big range of ice-cream flavours. Service is good but felt a bit canteen like rather than restaurant. When I came to write this review I was shocked at the low star reviews, goodness what do people want? Will be returning sooner than later
12.00 pm 23rd October Dined at the Plough in Eynsford to celebrate my Wife and I's 48th year of marriage and was served by Waitress "Olivia" who was most courteous and hospitable and the menu prepared by Chef "Keith" who presented an excellent palatable cuisine, thank you to you both.
we have eaten in a number of restaurants in the last 2 weeks whilst touring Northern England for our Wedding anniversary. All were more expensive and none can hold a candle to the plough. Yes there is always a down side. It is too far from my house. Paul please move the property then it would be perfection
Having heard good reviews of the food quality we visited this past Thursday Lovely location but the food was a lot of money for poor quality. Children’s burgers with no lettuce leaf tomato or pickle plain and unappetising (report of a 10 year old).Steaks were ok and the chips better than the rest of a bad lot - pepper sauce tasted of gravy plus lots of red peppercorns whole and watery. Stilton ‘sauce’ tasted of water and as runny as water. Fish was good but the batter overcooked.Essentially rubbish food despite recent good reports To top it all off - smelly toilets. Always a bad sign - should’ve believed them.
We stayed for 2 nights. Room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was big with a bath and a shower. The Shower was brilliant - one of the best we have come across :-) We ate at the Inn both nights and enjoyed both meals. They had a special of 2 x fish'n chips for £20 one night, which was great value. We did get charged £14.80 for a large sauv blank which was a bit of a rip off to be honest.. but other drinks were about right. Staff were courteous and friendly. Only downside to me was the fact that the room (Musgrave) was right above both the kitchen (not a problem), and a huge external extractor fan which was loud and I felt it was intrusive. It came on at 7am and was on all day till about 9pm. Thankfully it wasn't on all night.. It wasn't the end of the world TBH, and we would go back - but would make sure it was a different room. We were told "That's why that room is cheaper" but there was no mention of that when we booked it on booking.com. Pleasant stay - recommended.
A little gem. Very impressed with the standards, food, decor and general well running of this delightful inn.We spent 2 nights there albeit with a gap in between therefore experienced 2 rooms, both charming with lovely bed linen and toiletries. On the second night, on our way home, we were most impressed that a fan had been put on in our room (on the hottest day of the year so far.)Staff were very pleasant and obliging. My only slightly negative comment would be that the food portions are a bit too generous leading to waste.I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough to anybody. I would love to return.
The service was second to none .What a lively setting Beer garden great. It was my partners birthday so lunch was a treat .The beefburger was homemade and fantastic.Do not order the ploughman's unless you are on a diet.Didn't expect a plateful but i genuinely think something was missing whilst quality was adequate the description on the menu deceives. Will visit again but certainly not for food .
