I've been a member for about three years, and I've noticed a significant decline in the quality of the experience at the gym, especially over the past 18 months. The number of members has increased, while the value of the experience has diminished. In this time, the membership fees have risen every January, yet many facilities remain in disrepair, like sauna doors that don’t close properly. It’s also become increasingly difficult to find locker space due to overcrowding. Recently, they've even imposed mandatory 'charity' donation fees for basic items like straws, spoons, or paper cups. Initially, I shared a positive review on social media that gained nearly a million views, highlighting the luxury and convenience the gym offered. However, being charged for a wooden spoon feels inconvenient and far from luxurious. It may seem trivial, but I ended my membership, which costs nearly £4000 a year, over a small charge for a spoon—reflecting a broader issue at the gym. They seem to prioritize acquiring new memberships over maintaining a quality experience for current members. Additionally, I referred many family and friends for tours. While some joined, one friend was bombarded by the sales team through emails. It’s ironic, as they claim the gym is so popular that they have to operate waitlists for certain branches, yet the sales team persistently contacted my friend to secure a membership.
