I rented a car for 10 days through a service I had previously trusted without any issues. The pickup was straightforward, and I opted out of extra insurance, roadside assistance, and an automatic upgrade. Upon returning the car, everything was inspected and confirmed as damage-free. However, the next day, I noticed a 104 EUR charge from a different company. I reached out to the service for clarification but received a receipt for Premium Roadside Coverage for the entire rental period. I've now requested a copy of the signed agreement to verify if they added this charge after I declined. I reviewed the original agreement and found no extra fees, but I anticipate receiving a version that could be difficult to contest. This seems to be a common issue based on feedback from others. We frequently rent vehicles and usually expect some sales pressure, but this felt quite deceptive. I had a booking with the same company in the USA for two weeks in April, which I have since canceled, and I will not be using them again. They took two weeks to respond to my inquiry, prompting me to start a credit card dispute, though I suspect they managed to include the roadside coverage in the agreement somehow, even though the final balance I signed was 0.00 Euros (as I had prepaid). It will be interesting to see how they attempt to justify this charge.
