I booked two saver‑rate rooms with Travelodge in 2020 and paid £1,200 upfront. Because refunds weren’t allowed, I was told that I could amend the dates each year, which Travelodge did without issue for several years. In 2025, I requested the same amendment, but instead of changing the dates, they cancelled my bookings without my consent and issued short‑dated eVouchers. These expired before I could use them, leaving me with no booking, no refund, and no usable credit.
Customer Service has refused to offer any solution, even though I never agreed to the cancellation or the vouchers. After paying £1,200, I have received no service at all.
This experience has made me question how the saver‑rate policy is even allowed in the UK. It leaves consumers completely unprotected, giving the hotel the ability to take payment and later cancel bookings on their own terms without providing the service paid for. Policies like this should be reviewed, as they can be easily misused and leave customers out of pocket.
I would strongly advise others to think carefully before booking saver‑rate rooms with Travelodge.
