During a recent sit, I became unexpectedly ill shortly after arriving. Despite this, I still completed all required responsibilities and left the home clean and in good condition, which the homeowner acknowledged in their review.
However, the homeowner left an inconsistent overall rating that did not align with their written feedback or category scores. I reached out both to the homeowner and to TrustedHousesitters support to request a review reassessment or clarification, but received no meaningful resolution.
What’s concerning is that the platform allows subjective or inconsistent reviews to significantly impact a sitter’s profile, without a clear or fair process for disputes, even when the written feedback contradicts the rating.
TrustedHousesitters will most likely reply here with a lazy copy and paste note about their “tamper-proof” review system. However, this is a PR cover-up and should not be used as a blanket reason to ignore cases where reviews are clearly inconsistent or potentially damaging. The issue is not about removing honest feedback. It is about addressing reviews that are internally contradictory and disproportionately harmful to sitters who fulfilled their responsibilities.
This creates a situation where sitters carry all the reputational risk, while homeowners are not held to the same standard of accountability.
