A little story of Tuincentrum.nl

Good day to you, stranger! Here is a little story about my interaction with Tuincentrum.nl. Hope it will be useful to ye.Act 1On one fine evening in the midst of July I suddenly had an urge to have a bunch of plants on my balcony. So I have rushed to the Interwebs and stumbled upon the Tuincenter. They looked like a respectable establishment. And they had Saturday delivery service, what a joy for a full-time worker like myself! With no further ado, I have made my order and scheduled it to the next Saturday.Act 2Come next Saturday. I free up my day, decline all appointments, and place myself on a sofa to wait for my precious plants to arrive.By 4 o'clock afternoon I start to have my doubts. A quick call by the means of telephone has solved my doubts. "You see, the plants arrived damaged", they said. "We could not ship them this way, so we rescheduled the delivery for Tuesday". What an unfortunate accident! However, accidents happen, right? Only I wish I was notified earlier. Having supressed my annoyance, I have rescheduled the delivery to the next Saturday. After all, I still have to work for the man.Act 3Come August, a wonderful warm mounth. And with it come the next Friday. And with it come the email to my mailbox: "Due to extreme crowds, your order is delayed. We expect to be able to deliver your order within 1 to 3 working days."So I use all my artistic skill and fancy words to compose a suitable response. "1 to 3 days is not an option", I write. "I work these days", I remind. "I requested a delivery to a given day for a reason". Finally, I give them a new date at the end of the month. (Why the end of the month, you might ask? You see, my gracious reader, August has tempted me to go to places far away, looking to relieve my withered soul from its worries and troubles. A fine process dubbed "vacation". But more of that some other time)Act 4 (a short one)Tuincentrum has sent me yet another email, notifying me that they have rescheduled the delivery of my long-suffering plants to the date of my vacation. Having no faith remaining in humanity anymore, I refrained from any further explanation and simply repeated my earlier request for a date.Act 5 Come September. More than a month has passed from my original order. The other plants on my balcony started to turn red, and yellow, and brown. The nature turns quiet, preparing for the inevitable march of Autumn. But wait, what is this sound? This is ringing of my mobile telephone! It's tuincentrum employee telling me that once again, they cannot deliver my order on an agreed date. Void of all hope, I request a cancellation of the order. The employee on the other end of the line seems relieved. The first leaf falls from its mother tree and softly touches the ground.Act 6End of September approaches. The flora specimen I desired for so long have long been aquired elsewhere. However, one thing seems missing. It is a refund on my bank account. Restless, I once again compose the mail to Tuincentrum. "this refund will be completed by the end of this week", they reply. Somehow I am not relieved.Act 7 (and the last one)Come October. I think you can agree with me, my dear reader, that past October has been the nicest and the mellowest in the last couple of years. There is just one thing that keeps me unsatisfied. You got it - my refund has not arrived yet. My last electronic letter to Tuincentrum remains unanswered. I do not want this ridiculously long interaction to burden me anymore. I open a case on PayPal. Within a couple of weeks, my money is reimbursed. The whole story lasted for a whole quarter year.So what does this little story teach us?1. Do not rely on Tuincentrum's "saturday delivery" offer;2. In fact, do not rely on Tuincentrum delivering on an agreed date at all;3. Always pay by PayPal, in case you want your money back.Thank you for you attention, my dear reader. May your journeys be safe, and your shopping pleasurable.
