I had an extremely poor experience with Turo and would not recommend using their platform.
In November 2025, I booked a vehicle for a trip to New York. The first car was unavailable upon arrival (no key in the lockbox), and the second replacement could not be used due to maintenance issues. After significant delays and additional transportation costs, I was eventually given a third vehicle.
Unfortunately, that vehicle was not in proper working condition and was unsafe to drive. As a result, the car broke down and I was stranded in New York for a full day without accommodations and had to pay out-of-pocket to address issues just to continue my trip safely. I also missed a day of work. These repair & related costs exceeded $1,000.
Turo later confirmed I was entitled to a refund. However, nearly six months later, I have still not received any payment.
I have followed up multiple times and provided all requested information. Turo claims the refund was processed via PayPal but failed due to an internal error, and they are still “monitoring” the situation. No timeline has been provided, and no effort has been made to reissue the funds through another method.
This is completely unacceptable. A company should not take months to resolve a refund - especially in a case involving safety concerns, significant out-of-pocket costs, and being stranded.
I strongly advise others to be cautious when using Turo, as both their vehicle standards and claims process have proven unreliable in my experience.
