Absolutely Disgusting! In November 2016 we lost our son, unfortunately he was still born. Due to this I missed a payment for our TV licence- It really wasn't the first thing on my mind funnily enough. I tried to explain the situation to the licencing agency- BBC's Bully Boys- to no avail. They made me send them a copy of my sons death certificate to prove what I had been through!!! I, naturally, thought this would resolve the matter....How wrong was I?! The next thing I knew a £30 payment had become £500!!! With fines etc added. They sent me a letter to attend court to defend myself. So just 5 months after losing my Son I was in court in front of 3 judges defending myself and why I really didn't think £500 was reasonable. I was a mess in the dock that day, I couldn't stop crying and I'm sure the judges couldn't understand what I was saying half the time. Needless to say but the 3 judges saw seance and dismissed the case- No fine to pay, with all 3 judges apologising for me having to be there. One judge commented that he was disgusted that I had been dragged into court just 5 months after losing my son, especially as I have provided all the requested evidence. I was a grieving mother who had been through the most traumatic event of my life. We no longer require a TV licence, and do not pay it. I will never give the BBC bully boys AKA TV licencing any of my hard earned money.
