I thought I'd share my perspective as an instructor on Udemy - something that has become more important since the company went public.Instructors across the board are seeing a drop in revenues for as much as 60-80% at the moment. These months are generally the best time of the year but since they have gone public and failed miserably to meet shareholder expectations the prevailing theory is they are simply taking the money out of the hand who create the content and putting it squarely in the hands of shareholders. It's a topic lighting up the instructor forums right now and one of those topics largely ignored by admins and management. When i first joined in 2019, Udemy guaranteed students lifetime access to content they do not own and put a blanket ban on instructors sharing their content anywhere else. And for the longest time they have tried to hold instructors to this agreement despite radical changes ion the way they promote, share, support and pay instructor work. We've seen dwindling support, no instructor protection - from student reviews or even other instructors and I've seen bullying and personal attacks rife in the instructor forums that have led to people deleting their content and leaving their platform. Often this bullying is from "star instructors" enforcing the status quo.Morale is extremely low in the Udemy instructor community and Udemy fails to even comment let alone do anything about it. Their prevailing attitude is for every angry person who leaves, 5 new instructors will take their place and this has driven they way they treat and interact with the instructor community.
