We recently had a deeply disappointing experience with the service at Mercedes Benz Brighton. On the 28th of last month, my son's car broke down in the middle of the highway without warning and stalled. The RAC came to check it, but they couldn’t repair it on the spot, so they towed it to Mercedes Benz Brighton, our dealer, where we have a car plan since purchasing the vehicle. My son takes excellent care of his car, and as an NHS key worker, he relies on it daily. Despite being loyal customers, Mercedes Benz Brighton ignored the RAC diagnosis and insisted on conducting their own analysis, claiming their sophisticated tools and highly trained technicians would identify the fault. They charged us £210 for this diagnosis, refusing to reduce the fee.Their diagnosis was that the car had been misfueled. However, when we requested the diagnosis report, it did not mention misfuelling, the actual fault code P209A21, which relates to the intake system, not fuel quality. Despite our assurance and evidence that my son had filled his car with diesel, they were adamant that the fuel was contaminated with petrol. To prove our case, we went to Tesco to obtain a duplicate receipt, which confirmed that my son had indeed filled the car with diesel just half an hour before the breakdown. The whole experience was time consuming and stressful. Despite this, the dealership attempted to charge £210 for the incorrect diagnosis and £1200 for repairs based on their incorrect findings. This level of service is unacceptable for a brand that prides itself on quality.I urge potential customers to be cautious and ensure they receive accurate diagnoses and fair treatment. Our experience has left me questioning the competence and integrity of Mercedes Benz Brighton. I hope this review encourages them to improve their diagnostic processes and customer service standards. To Service manager of Brighton You have a receipt proving the car was filled with the correct fuel. If you are still claiming it was misfueled, it would mean the Tesco diesel pump was contaminated, which is highly unlikely
