Complaint Regarding Misrepresentation and Wasted Journey – V12 Sports & Classics
I am writing to formally raise a complaint and to make others aware of my recent experience with V12 Sports & Classics.
I was considering purchasing an Audi A6 as a downgrade from my current Range Rover. As part of the proposed deal, I made it explicitly clear that I would only proceed if I was guaranteed a minimum part-exchange valuation of £30,000 for my vehicle. I have negative equity, which I was fully prepared to address, but I was absolutely clear that anything less than £30,000 was not acceptable.
Dani confirmed — after allegedly speaking with the business managers — that £30,000 would be honoured and that the in-person valuation would merely be a formality. I stressed that I would need to drive two hours to Stoke and would not make that journey unless this figure was guaranteed. I was assured it was.
I was also told that the Audi A6 I intended to purchase would be on site at Stoke on Saturday 28th and available to view.
After driving two hours, I was informed:
My vehicle was only worth £26,000 maximum — a £4,000 shortfall from what was promised.
The Audi A6 I was travelling to view was not on site and had not been transported as stated.
To say this was disappointing would be an understatement. My vehicle is pristine, with full service history and every optional extra available. It sits in the highest possible bracket for condition and specification. There was no ambiguity about my expectations before travelling.
I see no reason why I would fabricate the valuation I was told over the phone — I had nothing to gain and everything to lose by making a four-hour round trip unnecessarily. The only reasonable conclusion is that I was misled in order to get me through the door.
This felt very much like a bait-and-switch tactic:
Promise one valuation to secure the appointment, then reduce it once the customer has committed their time and effort.
I anticipate a standard corporate response to this complaint, but the facts remain unchanged:
A minimum £30,000 was promised.
The vehicle I was travelling to view was confirmed as being on site.
Neither of these statements were true.
As a result, my time was wasted, I incurred travel costs, and the entire experience has left a very poor impression.
I would strongly caution others to obtain written confirmation of valuations and vehicle availability before making any long journeys based on verbal assurances.
