Absolutely AWFUL! I got a price on 'confused.com', went through and paid for the policy, then got an email saying Van Line direct weren't going to 'validate' the policy (i.e. put it in force) until the policyholder phoned them and provided their full driving licence number and National Insurance number. Neither of these things were required at the quote stage.I phoned several times to say I wanted to cancel the policy, but both their sales team AND their customer services team refused to do that. They put me on hold for 15 minutes or more - at which time I disconnected the call. Even tho they had my number, they didn't call back. Emails to them bounce and in order to do anything with the policy online they expect you to download their 'portal' software - not happening! There is absolutely NO reason why anyone in the UK should be forced to provide their NI no. or full driving licence number - and certainly not AFTER the policy has been paid for.
