Velvet Lane Boutique website indicated it was Australian-owned and based. Had a whole story and photo of supposed owners who, after 20 years in business were regretfully selling up. On 9 June 2025 I ordered “Lorrie cashmere turtleneck”. I’m size 10’in Australia but ordered size Large as I did not want it so tight. To my surprise there was a foreign transaction fee charged, first red flag. Item finally arrived, shipped from China - second red flag. Item’s packaging said “one size” and was poor quality synthetic and definitely not cashmere, and far too small and tight. I wanted to return it and there were efforts to divert me from this path, offering more discounts etc - 3rd red flag. When I persisted was told it had to be returned to China before any refund possible. Provided a strange return address (with no post code). Item was tracked per Aus Post to Zhuhai in China on 7 July and then no further tracking could be done by Aus Post, and Aus Post has since told me it’s “undeliverable” meaning that either the seller has refused to accept the parcel in China or address provided was incorrect. I have contact Velvet Lane Boutique requesting refund and they steadfastly refuse to refund me until shipping tracking shows “Delivered” which is now never going to happen. I noticed recently they allow Australian returns but I was not given this option and when I asked them why I was not provided this option for an Australian return I got no reply to my question. So you see this a scheme where they can never lose even if you try and return, they just refuse delivery and so you have sent good money after bad….Now, I guarantee their “customer service” will reply to this and request that I yet again contact customer service. But I have done this several times and it’s fruitless, they say they can only refund when item is delivered back to them in China. But this is never going to happen….
