Booked 3x family rooms in Maidstone branch. Check in took over an hour because they messed up. No cot when cot was requested so had to wait for 2 hours for a cot. On arrival, rooms were smelling damp and very hot and then we realised there was no AC. Regular rotary fans were in each room. When we turned one on, the front flew off aswell as the blades leaving dust all over the beds and in the air. When house keeping was called, they replaced the fan and agreed that it was stupid to not have AC in the family room. We couldn't sleep due to the heat and 1 fan was not enough for 4 people. A second fan was requested on day 2 which was provided. Rooms had 1 double bed, and 2 single beds. Single beds were mattresses on the floor, so no bed frames. All 3 rooms were like this. In one of the 3 rooms, the bathroom did not have a door handle and had a hole which you could see through. The shower was grimy and would flood the whole bathroom, leaking into the room too. Now shower mats so you could slip easily. Window opened just a crack so it was incredibly hot in the room. Swimming pool was nice but changing rooms were disgusting. No cubical in the changing rooms so just naked people walking around. Family changing room has only 4 cubical, but no seats or benches so you can easily slip whilst changing. I lost 2 pins in the changing room one day and found them on the floor the next day by the pool lockers so floor wasn't cleaned. Changing floor is slimy with grime. Only positives were the good housekeeping staff. We asked for an extra fan which was given in 5 minutes. When the first fan exploded, it was replaced within 10mins. When I mentioned about the door handle, the maintainance men were sent round to attach them withing half an hour. Overall, very disappointed with the stay at the Village Hotel in Maidstone. Its our first time staying at a hotel that isn't Premier Inn and we can 100% say that Premier Inn provided us with much better service and accommodation.
