DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU SEND YOUR ITEMS! WARNING!
Well, I can't say i'm surprised, My expectations were reserved when sending my items, I checked prices online so i was very aware of what i was sending, Worst case scenario i was expecting 35% of the value, At most 55%, I am very aware of the costs to run such large company and i was aware they must have a huge markup.
So i packed together basically a load of junk, Silver, Toys, Matchbox cars, Silver jewellery, Costume jewelry, Old cameras, new cameras, Bits and bobs, I knew all of that was worth in the region of £50, So i expected an offer on that for maybe £20-£25, But then i put a very expensive limited edition watch inside, Brand new, Never worn, Last sales on ebay £480, After i posted my box i waited patiently, The 7 days for an offer turned into 15 days, Disappointment before i even received an offer, While i was waiting i inquired at a watch company who buy watches regarding my watch, They offered me £240 for the watch, I thought, Yeah that checks out.
The day came when i received an offer, I opened the Email,
We are very happy to offer you £28 for your amazing items!
You are taking the absolute p*ss.
I rang them up, I acted stupid and said, Thanks for the offer, Are you able to give me a breakdown on the items, She said well yeah the value was in the silver really, I responded, Not much in there then no?, Unfortunately not she replied. I said, What about the limited edition brand new £500 watch? ...... ''Oh, Which watch was that then?'' I said its pretty obvious, Its in a big brand new case with limited edition on the top of it, You know, The shiny box sitting in the middle of all the junk.........
She took the box back to be re-appraised, I already made my mind up though regardless of the returning offer, Which was £120, Still absolutely terrible, Just under 20% of the watches value.
They knew full well what they had, These 'Experts' check the prices, You can find the price of this watch in seconds, The woman on the phone checked the price on Ebay within 20seconds of me mentioning it to her on the phone, I gave her the make and model and she said on the phone, ''Yeah i can see it right here on ebay'', This was a clear indication of how they will scam you, They seen the junk in the box, And they knew there is no way i knew the price of that watch if i sent it within a pile of junk, And they tried to outright scam me, It wasn't a mistake, It wasn't a lapse in judgement, It was a scam, They knew the price of the watch.
After my experience i would say stay well clear unless you truly know its junk, You've checked the prices, And you just want to make space, Never send anything of value to these people, It's very unfortunate, This was about a month ago, Sold my watch on Ebay for £458.00 a week later. I'm sure this has happened to hundreds of people over the years, You put your trust in a company to be open and honest and this is the service you get. Disgraceful.
