I’ll be honest — I nearly let this expire.
I was gifted a Virgin Experience Days voucher for Mother’s Day last year for a Champagne Afternoon Tea at Harrods, and in my head I’d already decided it was going to be a nightmare to book. You know the kind — limited dates, awkward availability, lots of back-and-forth… the usual.
But I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I left it until the last minute (naturally), fully expecting stress… and it was so easy. The booking process was straightforward, dates were available, and the whole thing felt seamless. Honestly, such a pleasant surprise and completely changed my opinion on experience vouchers.
And then… the actual experience.
We booked The Georgian at Harrods and from the moment we arrived it felt special. The setting alone is stunning — dusky pink velvet, chandeliers, soft lighting — pure elegance without feeling stuffy.
The service was incredible. We were made to feel like we were the only people there — so attentive, friendly and genuinely warm. There was even a pianist playing which just elevated the whole atmosphere.
The food was beautiful — delicate finger sandwiches, a little crumpet with caviar, warm scones with clotted cream and a selection of preserves, plus the most delicious champagne. The loose-leaf tea menu was extensive and made the whole thing feel even more indulgent.
It was one of those experiences where everything just felt thoughtful and luxurious without being overwhelming.
I went from nearly letting the voucher expire… to already wanting to go back.
Luckily (and I must be doing something right as a parent) I got another one for Mother’s Day this year — Fortnum & Mason, here I come.
