I have mixed feelings about my experience with Waggel. On one hand, they have now paid out for my 12-year-old cat's dental extractions, but getting there was an uphill battle.
Initially, the claim was declined because of a single word in the clinical notes. Waggel interpreted 'advised scaling' from a check-up months ago as a formal recommendation for a clinical procedure, whereas my vet had actually only recommended 'home-care scaling' (brushing).
It took a formal dispute and a signed letter from my vet to prove that no medical procedure had been 'ignored' before they finally overturned their decision. While the 'Customer Champions' are polite, the initial assessment felt like a search for a loophole rather than a fair review of a loyal customer’s history.
I am glad the claim is settled, but I am disappointed to see my monthly premium has since increased by £10. If you use Waggel, be extremely careful with the exact wording your vet uses in their notes, as it may interpret shorthand in the way that best suits their bottom line.
