Four the last four out of five months I have had an email from waggel to say claims are delayed due to high volumes which is completely unacceptable. If you don’t have enough staff to service your clients you need to sort it out. It’s is not fair to your customer to delay payments for pre- approved conditions. No wonder our vets will not work directly with you.

Please don’t bother with this company. My cats are 16 & 11 so I’ve been with them a long time - the amount they add onto your premium each year is criminal, from £80 a month to £130 this year! They will find any loophole to get out of paying claims; I’ve only claimed once for each cat, and they refused one..even my Vets say they dread seeing emails from them. They also force you into a “triage” to make sure you definitely need the Vet - I’m pretty sure we can tell that. Save yourself a lot of money and heartache..do not choose Waggel for cover.

I have been using Waggel for a few years for my dog, and even though I haven't had to make any claims up to yet, the price is reasonable and stays the same each year when it renews. I have just insured another puppy we have had, and I got a quote and was happy with the price, and also had £1 off for agreeing to use the online vet service. Overall, I can't comment on experience making claims as I haven't had to up to yet, but the price is affordable and stays the same on renewal which I am really happy with, and I highly recommend.

My lad Tedd was never sick or sorry in over 9 yrs until Pancreatitis hit last September (2025) which we then found out via emergency blood tests was caused by Cushings Disease. Waggel have been amazing! I know its very easy to do a claim on-line but I prefer to speak to a person as i never had to claim dog insurance before. Staff are all super helpful and caring, I can't praise them enough. Tedd is now on Cushings medication which waggel pay for each month, Without this it would be a struggle. I was with my previous well known dog insurance since Tedd was a pup and dispite never having a claim i was struggling with their ever rising premiums and when i needed to speak to them because they made errors you didn't get the personal caring touch like you do with Waggel. Tedds Cushings is now well under control and he passed his recent health check last week with flying Colours. I can't Thank Waggel enough for helping to keep our much loved Tedd fit and healthy. Even my Vets say how helpful and friendly they are. I wish I had bumped into the kind dog walker who recommended Waggel to me sooner.

I haven’t had much experience with contacting them. However, there always seems to be a long call queue, ive spoken to one lovely person, but the other was pretty rude with an attitude. No need for it as i only called with a simple query of when my claim would be paid out.

Disappointing Experience with Claims

I have been with the service for nearly three years without needing to file a claim. However, when I finally did, it was rejected because my pet had not had annual dental check-ups. Despite being in good health and having seen a veterinarian for a booster, who noted a dental issue that was scheduled for treatment, she was deemed ineligible for coverage. I conducted a pre-claim inquiry, and it took them several days to inform me that she wasn't covered, despite having dental coverage. I have now canceled my policy with them. They are quick to accept payments, but when it comes to claims, the answer is always NO. I would advise against wasting your money with this service.

Disappointed with Recent Changes

I had been a loyal customer for many years, but after receiving my latest renewal, I decided to leave. The monthly premium increased by £40, along with a significant excess for claims. Thankfully, I've never had to make one, but it feels like I was insuring a luxury car rather than a dog! My dog, a pedigree with a solid lineage, has always been healthy due to proper care, and my local vet hasn't raised prices significantly. To add insult to injury, I learned I could qualify for a £20 discount if I enrolled in an unnecessary online scheme that requires using an AI-generated 'Vet' for advice before seeing a real one. I don't need a bot to tell me when to take my dog to the vet! This requirement to consult an AI for discounts is absurd. It's disheartening to see that customer loyalty seems meaningless these days!

I must praise this service for keeping me informed throughout the process; they reach out via email if they need additional information. Updating your details is also straightforward.
