On one hand I was offered a same-day visit when my boiler started to throw up all sorts of different error codes and was not functioning. But on the other hand, the engineer was not able to identify the fault and since the boiler restarted after a few attempts it was decided that it will be left like that until it most likely comes up again. When the office was asked about costs these were given at £89+ vat per hour. Unfortunately from here onwards two tings happened. One, is that the boiler had stopped working overnight again with yet another different error (kind of expected) but two was the invoice. The invoice was £120 (inc vat). When questioned, the finance department said that the work took 1h 20 minutes (despite the engineer leaving my house 58 minutes after arrival and that includes the WC time). My thoughts on this are as follows...At £89+vat per hour, a 1.3 hours visit would cost £138.84 (inc vat). My guess is that the engineer did not log more than 1 hour but the person who advised me of the £89+vat hour cost was in fact incorrect and was supposed to quote me £100+vat hour. It was therefore decided to simply bill me for the "corrected" cost without bothering as much as apologising or letting me know by any other civilised means. Instead, I was told that THAT is the correct price and I must pay it. Well, I did pay it but here guys is your feedback, which reflects my experience. Oh, yea! The problem with the boiler was the circulating pump, by the way. It was replaced the next day and all boiler faults have magically disappeared. Experienced plumbers you are...
