The volume of false claims made by Westgate Resort employees is shocking. I was told that I could use this to make a second income which led to me making the foolish decision to agree to purchase the timeshare. I was so confused with all the false claims and inaccurate figures, and the salesperson’s coercive nature made me feel like I needed to sign a contract immediately. The following day, April 25th, 2024, I called the salesperson multiple times to let him know that I wanted to cancel my contract immediately. The salesperson refused to help me, so I returned to the office to cancel the timeshare in person. I met with a woman who notarized my documents the day before. She told me to write a cancellation letter, which I did. When I handed the cancellation letter to her, she returned and presented me with two properties. Both were far cheaper than what I originally paid for, and when I asked how she was able to lower the prices, she told me that someone had just upgraded, and I only had to pay the leftover mortgage. She told me that it would be foolish of me to cancel the timeshare contract when I could use one of the cheaper options, she presented me with to make money. I was within my rescission period and just wanted to cancel my contract but was effectively told that my only option would be to purchase a different, cheaper property. I am fed up with the run around by this unethical company and their sleezy employees. I just want to be released from this horrid contract immediately. It was presented to me dishonestly and all the ‘benefits’ associated with my purchase turned out to be lies. My consumer rights were violated because the employees essentially ignored my letter demanding the cancellation, within the period provided by law in Florida. Now all they do call demanding money that I have no intention of paying them. Westgate Resorts should be ashamed of themselves for preying on a single mother.
