Review Time
My father was supposed to rent a unit in this building for a one-week trip to Hawaii. While traveling with me in Vietnam, he was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to the hospital. His rental for this unit was booked through Westgate resorts. He was to arrive at the unit February 24th, on the 22nd of February. He was admitted to a hospital here in Vietnam with pneumonia. I was able to contact Westgate resorts on the morning of February 23rd. They informed me that since he was within the check-in window and the cancellation was taking place less than 72 hours, the best they could accommodate was to offer him one week to rebook time to stay at this location.I was told if He did not rebook a stay at the location within one week. He would forfeit the entire amount. I became upset and while. I did use foul language and told the rep on the phone I found this to be entirely unacceptable as his diagnosis of pneumonia was a completely unforeseen and uncontrollable event. I was told again he only had the one week window to rebook a stay at the property. I then tried to appeal by email showing his admission paperwork to the hospital in an email from the doctor. I was told that because of my actions they would take my 's father's money and the one week window to rebook was forfeit . While I accept that my actions were less than admirable , I would not recommend anyone to stay at this location booking through Westgate resorts as they stole $2,400 of my father's money. Their cancellation policy is completely unacceptable
We experienced misleading sales tactics from the company. A representative promised a 60-minute meeting but instead subjected us to a grueling 6-hour high-pressure situation with our three young children present. He made quick claims about partnerships, property value increase, and easy resale that turned out to be untrue. The contract process felt intentionally rushed. After nearly 4 hours, we asked for a break for our tired children, but the representative insisted we continue. He hurried through the contract in 15 minutes, without allowing us to grasp the terms. I mentioned my brain injury, yet was coerced into signing while mentally drained. Another representative completed the paperwork in a similarly rushed session. Every promise made was false. The contract transfers to our children, contrary to what was claimed. Maintenance fees rise each year, rather than remaining stable. We have been unable to use the timeshare as promised and are paying out-of-pocket for accommodations. Since February, we have faced relentless harassment. Corporate representatives have called excessively, contacting my spouse at work and me during medical treatments. During a critical therapy session when I was legally incapacitated, representatives pressured my sister and were extremely rude. Most concerning was that our account was upgraded without our consent. When we rejected these unauthorized changes, a representative claimed to send numerous documents, but only a few were accessible unless we signed first. Shortly after, we were locked out of our account. The company engaged in misrepresentation, high-pressure tactics, and deliberate withholding of information. The rushed process, my cognitive challenges, the presence of young children, and the exhausting duration of the ordeal constitute duress. Their behavior is unethical and predatory.
I want to express serious concerns about the sales practices I experienced when purchasing a timeshare. I was misled by representatives regarding critical aspects of the agreement, leading to significant financial hardship. Interest rates for financing were inadequately disclosed, and the information was misleading, affecting my ability to make an informed decision. More troubling, yearly maintenance fees were never mentioned during the sales presentation. This omission has resulted in unexpected and unmanageable expenses. The sales process was high-pressure, showcasing different properties while emphasizing urgent, limited-time offers. I wasn't given enough time to review the contract or understand the long-term implications. False claims were made about the timeshare being a valuable investment that could generate rental income—claims that turned out to be misleading. My decision was based on misrepresentation and a lack of transparency, leading to unforeseen financial difficulties. I urge others to thoroughly research any timeshare offers before committing and to be cautious of high-pressure sales tactics.
We encountered roaches in our kitchen and significant water damage in our bathroom that had been reported but not addressed promptly. Housekeeping responded days later, but there were still problems, including water dripping from the light fixture. The state of the room was quite concerning. As an owner since 2007, I feel embarrassed that my guests could not enjoy their stay. This resort is receiving poor reviews for good reason. While the view was lovely, other issues overshadowed it. Additionally, despite multiple requests, I couldn't get a stepstool delivered to help with the high beds, which are difficult for shorter individuals to access. It's disappointing to see such a decline in service and value over the years.
After years of disappointments, I’m done. We purchased a timeshare in 2018, an every-other-year package, and it has been a struggle. Our home resort had issues like a broken refrigerator that spoiled our food, with no reimbursement despite promises. On our next stay, entry door locks malfunctioned, leading to long waits for security to let guests in. Our first stay was marred by a mandatory owners meeting right on the first day, where they tried upselling us immediately. Most recently, we paid extra to use our week at another resort, but upon arrival, our room wasn't ready, causing a long wait. There were also issues with missing kitchen items. This last stay pushed me to sell. The only good experiences we had were during the initial purchase and a brief visit for free tickets. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
My experience with this company has been one of the most deceptive and stressful consumer experiences of my life. I was pressured into signing a timeshare contract after hours of manipulation and false promises. Sales representatives claimed the timeshare would increase in value, could be easily rented or sold, and would save money on future vacations. None of that was true. After purchasing, I discovered hidden fees, inflated maintenance costs, and booking restrictions that make using the timeshare extremely difficult. Attempts to resolve issues through customer service were met with dismissive and unhelpful agents. I realize now that their system is designed to trap people in high-cost, long-term obligations with little to no actual benefit. I strongly urge anyone considering a purchase to research thoroughly before signing anything. These practices are unethical and exploit consumers seeking affordable family vacations.

I'm writing to caution others about the company's predatory timeshare sales tactics. What was promised as a "brief 90-minute presentation" turned into a 3+ hour high-pressure ordeal, causing ongoing financial and emotional distress. The deception started early, and we were approached with a cash incentive for what was promised to be a short presentation. The session actually lasted over 3 hours despite our time constraints. We were told no credit checks would be made, while the down payment was lowered repeatedly to pressure us into signing. Despite clearly stating our concerns, staff ignored them and rushed us through signing documents, claiming "others were waiting." After returning home, attempts to get help during financial hardship were met with hostility. Emotional impact has been devastating; the manipulation and lack of transparency during our vulnerable moments is unacceptable. I urge others to avoid their sales presentations entirely.
Our experience at this resort was disappointing. Our room flooded, and when we requested help, we received none. After cleaning up ourselves, we canceled our spa appointment but were still charged for it. As a former customer service manager, I have never felt so belittled as a veteran or service member. The staff did not fulfill their responsibilities, and despite showing them call logs and recorded conversations, we faced no accountability. This situation ruined our anniversary and cost us hundreds. Future owners should be aware; it’s not worth it.
