Whirlpool/Maytag refused to replace the glass cooktop while under warranty. On August 14th their recommended technician came out to examine a hairline crack in our electric Maytag oven/cooktop. Whirlpool/Maytag refused to replace the repair because they called the crack cosmetic. I called back and scheduled another service call with a different repair company that they sent on the 29 of August and they again denied the replacement even after this service calls there were now 2 cracks. I spoke to a care advisor, a supervisor and a manager over a period of 3 or 4 days and they wanted to call the cracks cosmetic. The manger state that cast iron skillets or cooking wear that doesn't have smooth bottoms could cause gouges in the cook top. That was a ridiculous statement. Glass cooking tops are not wood or plastic that one could make a gouge if they were beating the stove top with them. Sliding cookware across the glass top wouldn't make the glass crack. The model number of my Maytag stove/cook top is MES8800PZ1. Avoid this model and I would encourage anyone considering a Whirlpool or Maytag appliance to think twice about buying since they wouldn't honor their one year warranty.
