Review Time
If I could give Whirlpool zero stars, I would. I received a dryer and on the first day it already stopped working after about 10 minutes. I tried using it two more times, and each time it shut down again after 10–15 minutes (I was using Bulky and Heavy Duty modes).
I reviewed the return policy, which states that the product is returnable as long as it’s within the initial wash. However, when I spoke with a service coordinator, I was told that once the unit is installed, it is non-returnable.
On top of that, the online chat service never works, and calling customer service means being put on hold for at least an hour. I scheduled a service repair online and saw Saturday availability, but later received a call saying they don’t service on Saturdays. When I called again on the day the repair was supposedly scheduled, they put me on a 2 hours hold and had no record of the appointment at all.
Whirlpool has been an absolute disaster. I spent $600 on a broken machine and bunch of troubles.
From the beginning my Whirlpool refrigerator would not register that the water filter was in place. 2 calls to get a new water filter, another call to get a service call scheduled. A text was sent to me after Septemberly (agent) scheduled my service call expeditiously since this was an early life failure of my new refrigerator. Waited 4 hours for service person - at the end of the 4 hour wait, I got a call from Goodman Appliances saying they would not be able to see me until 15 days later. Hours wasted looking for how to get service, on hold to customer service, removing and replacing the water filter, again on hold to customer service and waiting for a service call that Whirlpool Customer Experience Center scheduled and then sent confirmation to me in an SMS text, where the service person had not actually been scheduled. AVOID buying from Whirlpool.com. You are
on your own if you need service. BY THE WAY: this same Customer Service Experience is also servicing: JENN-AIR, KitchenAid, Amana, Maytag, Gladiator, and Whirlpool. AVOID THEM ALL!!
I am extremely disappointed with Whirlpool’s customer service.
My Whirlpool refrigerator is still under the manufacturer’s one-year warranty. A crisper drawer broke and should have been a simple warranty replacement. Instead, I spent over five cumulative hours on hold across multiple days.
I was repeatedly transferred between Warranty, Parts, and even the Water Filter Department. Whirlpool Warranty transferred me to Parts, and Parts attempted to charge me over $200 for a warranty-covered part. The Parts Department phone system repeatedly failed to accept menu inputs, and multiple calls were disconnected after long holds.
When I escalated in writing and provided call logs and warranty proof, Whirlpool Parts responded with a generic message stating they are “out of warranty” and told me to call Warranty — despite Warranty being the source of the transfers.
This experience reflects a broken internal process and a failure to honor a basic warranty obligation. I would not recommend Whirlpool based on this experience.
Worst customer service possible. Waited on line for over an hour to schedule a service call. When they answered they told me I had two options. Both were an up sale on a warranty. I pushed back and said I just wanted to schedule a service call. They then 'connected' me to another numbers. Waited again for an hour for someone to answer. Unbelievable.
We have appliances from a well-known brand in our home, and overall they’ve been satisfactory, but there are certainly some frustrations. The main concern has been the dryer — on the regular dry setting, it often fails to fully dry clothes, forcing us to run additional cycles or use a higher setting to achieve proper dryness.
The washer has been adequate, and the controls are user-friendly, but the drying performance has not met my expectations. It’s not a bad brand, but it hasn’t provided an exceptional experience either. I believe there’s potential for improvement, particularly in how their dryers manage typical loads.
It seems the control panel is malfunctioning. Both the refrigerator and freezer are not operational. The lights have gone out before and accessing the freezer light is quite a challenge. This appliance is oddly shaped and quite costly. It's the worst appliance we've ever had. I strongly advise against spending money on this brand.
I have a washer that's only 14 months old, and the service board has failed. After spending hours with customer service, I had to use chat support to discover there was a recall. They promised to send someone out, but then a third-party company informed me the part is backordered, with some customers waiting up to 80 days since they can only source from their distributor. I've spent an excessive amount of time with customer service, and I found out through chat support that the company is responsible for sending me the new part, which I can replace myself. The representatives were rude and unhelpful, and after a week and a half, the part still hasn’t shipped! They should proactively notify customers about the faulty part and arrange replacements before they fail. Unfortunately, their customer service has been incredibly unhelpful in resolving this issue. My previous washer lasted 18 years, and this one has barely made it to 14 months.
Steer clear of appliances from this manufacturer. They do not honor the warranty on the products you purchase. Technicians are sent repeatedly to address issues but fail to fix the underlying problems or replace the appliance. Each technician provides conflicting diagnoses, and there seems to be a lack of accountability. The appliances, particularly the stoves, are known to be faulty, yet they continue to be sold. This forces customers to buy new units. Interactions with customer service yield inconsistent information, and whatever you are told often contradicts what the next representative states. The repair companies dispatched may also demand payment out of pocket despite the warranty coverage.
Steer clear of this company's appliances. They fail to uphold the warranty they advertise. Technicians are sent repeatedly without actually fixing the issues or replacing the faulty items. Each technician seems to have a different diagnosis, and it feels like they mislead the company to cut costs instead of providing proper service. Their stoves are known to be problematic, and yet they continue to sell them, forcing customers to buy new ones. Customer service is inconsistent, providing conflicting information with every call. The repair services they contract often demand out-of-pocket payments even while the appliance is under warranty.
I bought a repair service contract from this company and was supposed to receive confirmation via email and letter. It's been ten days, and I have received neither. Attempting to reach customer service through their hotline was a frustrating experience, with wait times exceeding an hour. Overall, the customer service has been abysmal. I would strongly advise against making a purchase.
