I went on the Arctic Fox trip to Kviar (Hornstrandir) in February 2026 with David Gibbon. David is a fantastic guide and a gentleman. The trip was an absolute blast from start to finish. We saw and photographed foxes everyday and I was able to get shots from different perspectives - from just outside the lodge itself as well as from the beach. In addition to the photography, I thoroughly enjoyed the company of David, Justin (cook/housekeeper) and my fellow travelers/photographers. As a previously solo traveler/photographer, this was my first trip with a group and the fun and camaraderie exceeded my expectations. Apart from anything else, David has a laid back sense of humor and is just great fun to be around. Same for Justin who is also a fantastic cook.
I would very highly recommend a trip with David and Wild Lens Nature Tours and I look forward to my next one with him.

Fantastic!

I will begin simply with, “wow!” Having never been on any kind of formal group photography adventure, I didn’t fully know what to expect. To say that this adventure achieved my goals is as understated as I could make it. My adventure-mates were funny, engaging, interesting and fantastically talented. I learned so much from them and thoroughly enjoyed their company. And David, our tour leader was a joy to be around. He graciously helped me through the process of signing up and was responsive to questions I had and when we finally met in person, I felt like I already knew him. He was helpful when you needed help, offered suggestions if you asked, and sat back when we all got “ in the zone.” We saw 7 individual foxes and despite the cold, got some tremendous photographs. And Justin, our cook and cabin leader made fantastic meals, answered many questions and contributed greatly to the experience. To David and Justin and all my adventure-mates, Takk Fyrir!!!

Exceeded all expectations

I had never travelled with David before so I was quite indecisive before I booked. David was very good at providing information and answering my many emails before I finally signed up for one of his Arctic Fox tours in Iceland. Before the trip he sent out plenty of useful information about booking flights and accommodation in Reykjavik and about what we would need to take with us. David met the group in Reykjavik and from there we were well looked after - hotels, meals, transfers all arranged for us. The group were a great bunch of people and everyone seemed to get along well with lots of laughs and mutual support. I'm sure that David attracts that sort of person as he sets a lovely, friendly and relaxed tone himself. The accommodation on Hornstrandir was far more comfortable than I expected. We were at Kviar which is warm with a flushing loo and shower. Whilst the kitchen facilities looked basic, the store cupboards are surprisingly well stocked and Justin was able to turn out fantastic food - even baking bread and a cake! The photography experience was beyond anything I had hoped for. There were several foxes in the area. Some we were able to watch on the shore, at a bit of a distance, but some were so confiding they came right up to us. Lots of opportunities for environmental and close up shots. There was enough snow to create some fantastic atmospheric conditions as well. For anyone who found the conditions too much outside it was easy to pop back into the house to warm up and grab a coffee.David was ever present, but never obtrusive. He made it clear he was there to help if wanted, but never imposed. He was encouraging and very knowledgeable about the subject and the location. I came away with images I really like and with new friendships. Excellent trip and I would definitely do it all again. Thank you David, Justin and everyone else on the trip for a memorable week.

TRIP OF A LIFETIME

Travelling far and beyond alone can be daunting. Which is exactly why I’m so grateful I went with David Gibbon. This was my first trip with him. We faced our fair share of challenges — shifting conditions, unpredictability, the usual wild cards — but he adapted seamlessly. Always positive. Always kind. Always moving forward.Of course, his knowledge of the species is invaluable. But more than that, it’s knowing you’re in safe hands that mattered most to me.Photographically, his teaching style is humbling yet deeply informative. Ask any question — he’s there. He gives you space to find your own way, offers guidance without ever stepping on your toes. It never feels imposed, instead it feels empowering. He instils confidence and courage. He makes it about the entire experience — not just the frame. And he’s wholeheartedly dedicated to the cause.I personally found the conditions tough. The constant need to adapt, the element of surprise — at times, frustrating. But while I wobbled, he remained calm and composed, quietly inspiring the rest of us to do the same. It’s easy to throw your arms in the air when things don’t go to plan. It’s harder — and far more rewarding — to stand beside those who teach you patience, resilience, and trust in this industry.Thank you for the laughs, the lessons, and the very cool photo opportunities.David is genuinely such a sweetheart making joining expeditions like this very lovely. Thank you, David - can’t wait for the next one :)

I recently went on the White Arctic Fox trip, and had the most amazing time.

I recently went on the White Arctic Fox trip in Hornstrandir, Iceland. I have to say from beginning to end, it was the best trip I have been on. Three things made it special for me:1: The way David looked after us, and made this trip available. We met David at Reyjkavic and he was with us we flew to Isafordjur, where he looked after us for the day before we planned to sail to Hornstrandir. His guidance and humour on Hornstrandir was great. And he accompanied us similarly on the trips back to Reyjkavic. David provides the whole end to end experience, and does everything he can to make for a superb experience.2: The group. David’s warm personality seems to attract equally warm and charming people to his groups. For me, the group camaraderie and fun spirit was great. This was the best group I ever had the pleasure to stay in an isolated farmhouse with :-)3: Of course, the white Arctic Fox in their natural cold and snowy environment, while also getting fantastic photos. I was emotional being in the company of the Foxes, and it was like a dream. The farmhouse was comfortable and warm, with the basic facilities you’d expect, but we had gas, electricity and domestic cooking facilities. For me, this way of living was refreshing, and far more charming than the average Holiday Inn or something.Trips like these are great, and David, and the goup spirit made it a trip I will genuinely never forget.

Mongolia-January 2026

If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing a snow leopard in the wild and you’re wondering if you should go with David to Mongolia, the answer is YES. You should absolutely go. I had seen videos of previous expeditions, so I knew what to expect. But it doesn’t compare to experiencing it yourself. Mongolia in winter is almost otherworldly. The vast, rolling steppe, endless sky, and rugged mountains are hard to describe in words. It is, without exaggeration, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. It was also the coldest place I’d ever experienced. Temperatures dropped as low as –35°C during our stay. While living in traditional gers was an incredible cultural experience, stepping out into the pre-dawn cold to use a pit toilet is something you don’t soon forget. But it’s all worth it for the chance to see a snow leopard. It’s never guaranteed, but it did happen for our group--who were some of the most talented, kind, and genuinely supportive people I’ve met. Although this trip tested me, it was surprisingly easy to spend the long, cold days with such a wonderful group of people, and there was always plenty of good food and lots of laughter to keep us going. For me, this trip was humbling and at times physically challenging. But it was also easily one of my most favorite experiences. If you have the chance to go on any of David’s adventures, don’t hesitate. You’ll thank yourself later.

Incredible Experience on Grimsey Island

Well, where should I start… absolutely incredible trip to Grimsey Island, the bird life, photography opportunities and company was second to none.Thank you so much to David and Kev for everything, from the organisation of logistics and photography expertise, I have had the absolute best time.I have left with memories that will last a lifetime, from our first night on a private whale watching rib boat where we were lucky enough to have several sightings 5 humpback whales under the midnight sun, watching kittiwakes and puffins in high tides with huge waves crashing around them, or spending time with the wild Icelandic ponies. As well as the happy memories, I am leaving with a portfolio of images that I am really proud of, that I will look back on for years to come with a smile on my face.Thank you both so much - looking forward to booking on another trip with you soon
