I had a very poor experience with 1stdibs. My purchase was indicated in euros, but I was charged in US dollars (although seller in UK). This caused me to incur a large fee. It is against the law in the EU to charge someone other than the indicated amount. I submitted a complaint, asked if I could at least cancel the payment and replace with a credit card that doesn’t pose such high fees for foreign exchange transactions. Response was no... I have been waiting weeks for anything resembling a proper response. I have been written to by two different people, both saying something different and then never following up.In addition, I was never informed that the item was going to be delivered (I received an email saying it was ready for shipment, but it arrived the next day!). Luckily I was at home, but it was raining and they refused to deliver the item into the building, so that I had to ring my husband to come home with help to try and get it inside and protect it from the elements. A simple indication of when an item of furniture will be arriving is the least one can expect, so that arrangements can be made. Overall, doesn’t live up to its name sadly.
