I had a really upsetting experience at Comptoir Libanais (Stansted branch) yesterday. I had left my baby for the first time and after a very busy day I sat down for a meal and began to assemble my breast pump. I was about to attach it when the manager (Florin) appeared over my shoulder and told me that “this was not the place for that!” He continued “that is why we have family rooms” [in the airport]. I was so taken aback but I managed to say something along the lines of I am allowed to do this in public, to which he responded that he personally didn’t want to see it-it was not the place and would put the other diners off their food! I felt so humiliated and angry. As a breastfeeding mom, I have never encountered this treatment before. I am incredibly disappointed. I left the restaurant and cried.Breastfeeding is a beautiful, natural gift that I am blessed to give to my children. I should not be made to feel like I am doing something indecent! It is my prerogative whether I would like to use the family room or not. That’s my choice, not Florin’s.What happened here is illegal. Do better!
