Short version: I got billed $900 for annual routine servicing of my functional A/C unit and Heat Pump and by the time the technician left, I was out $900 and had an A/C unit that was now broken. Do NOT use these people! Details: I scheduled annual routine servicing of my Heat Pump and A/C unit. I never used Milani before but my regular person had moved. The tech arrived and upon his entry, I asked him if he would like to me to turn off the air conditioning while he worked on it. He said yes. After working on the unit, he went to turn it back on and it wouldn't turn on. The tech said this was normal and would take a few minutes. I could sense he was uneasy, (as was I). He started to check his phone and I Googled, "a service guy just dealt with my A/C unit and it won't work now." Just as a message came up on Google, saying, "check the breaker," the technician asked me where the breaker box was. Hmmm. The breaker had not been tripped. The tech pulled the control box off the wall and started pulling out wires and trying to connect them, even though the temperature dial was functioning. After half an hour, he handed me an invoice for $400+ and told me he was leaving and another person would be dispatched to take a look. I refused to sign the invoice, given that my unit was now broken. I called Milani to express my concern and they indicated they would send another tech immediately. They asked if the initial tech could also attend. I told them they could, as this was not personal. I just anted my unit fixed. 30 minutes later the original tech and another technician arrived. They attempted to repair the unit for 2 hours but were unable to. They told me I need a new A/C unit. they handed me a second invoice for $400+ Silly me: I thought the second guy was coming to fix the first guy's error and did not think I would be paying for their mistake. i phoned Milani and expressed my dissatisfaction. i was clear that i was not paying them until they fixed what they had broken. they said they would be happy to fix it but at additional cost. I expressed concern about their business model and was clear that i would not be paying their company more money. They offered to reduce my $900+ invoice by$50, which I told them was insulting. I suggested they either: 1) repair what they had broken at no additional cost to me or 2) walk away ad I would deal with the damage by engaging a more reputable repair service. They returned with an offer to reduce my $900+ invoices by $150. I replied that my original position remained the same but consented that there is a $250 call out fee regardless of whether we use them or not. Because I had consented to that originally, I indicated that they were within their rights to charge my credit card $250 (knowing full well I was paying $250 for them having come over and broken my A/C unit). They indicated they would be sending a collection agent for the remainder. I told them I would be disputing this but that was their business. I was clear that they were NOT authorized to charge my credit card more than $250.within 5 minutes of hanging up, my credit card got charged for the full amount of $900+.In summary:Routine annual maintenance cost $900+. Following Milani performing theservice call, my A/C unit and fan no longer work. The customer service rep. at Milani lied to me, stating they would send a collection agent but instead she proceeded to charge my Visa card an unauthorized amount. Milani used my credit card without my consent. They denied that my unit worked beforehand (I have witnesses that it did) and then offered to fix it but I would have to pay for that
