Manager definitely needs training. I recently went to the Potbelly across the street from my home. I have been a regular at this Potbelly when it opened over 20 years ago. I have a small appetite and tried to order a kids meal even though I am well over 10 years old. The manager told me they couldn't serve me this because I was too old. I said I had been ordering this for my mother when she was alive and now that I'm older I wanted to order this. The manager told me he could not sell this to me because I wasn't a kid. He told me to never come there again. I said I wouldn't (even though I knew I probably would). I couldn't see the manager's name, he turned his back to me and ran away when I asked for it. I decided go to a nearby Wendy's. I left. I am 5'3", 123 pounds and am 72 years old. I use a cane when I walk. I hadn't even walked 1/2 a block when a policeman stopped me. He told me that the "manager" told me to NEVER RETURN to that Potbelly. He asked me about what had happened. I said I wanted a kids meal. He wouldn't sell it to me because I was too old. I said I had enough loyalty points to order a larger meal...but I didn't want one that was that large. Of course, we never got to that because the obvious D.E.!. hire and future child abuser and wife beater was having a fit because I wanted to purchase a small meal (b.t.w....I would have paid the adult price even without the points.) Of course, I was never offered an alternative. The manager immediately called the cops on me (who happened to be a neighbor of mine) I called Potbelly customer service and explained the entire ridiculous situation to them. The website said that they would get back to me...either by e-mail or a phone call. It's been over a week and I haven't heard a thing. I'm pretty sure this "incident" was videotaped. And I'm pretty sure that anyone from the Potbelly corporate office will not get back to me. But I'm positive that it is NOT Potbelly's policy to call the cops if I customer wants to order a kids meal if the customer is not a kid. I didn't know that was a crime.
