I recently had the tremendous fortune to visit Chicago by train and find the Canal street Potbelly sandwich shop. I wanted something to take back to the Hilton and eat watching TV and rest. WHAT A PLACE!!! I must have taken 10 minutes looking at all the options, before deciding on the chicken avo wrap and some chili. The place is small, very clean, and pleasant. The people behind the counter were friendly and helpful, and the food was out of this world. I had ordered 2 wraps because I hadn't eaten in about 18 hours, but I found one would have been an excellent meal, too. But SO GOOD I ate the insides of the 2nd one and almost all the great chili. I know I weighed 135 after THIS treat! I left their card in my room with a note for the next lodgers to see. This Chicago store is truly a great place to eat. What a way to show how great Chicago is!
I got a skinny roast beef sandwich a couple weeks ago and it was good. Got a pickle too and it was horrid. I ordered the same sandwich today in a regular size because I did not see skinny on the app. The beef was super fatty. Had to keep spitting it out. The “caramelized” onions were barely cooked and chewy. Inedible sandwich today.
Cleveland airport Potbelly employee Gregory & another employee asked if we could wait a little, why they cooked up fresh soup. We obliged & they could not have been nicer. e Were there on Jan 5th at 11;25 am.ON ORDER # 174
Recently a family member went to POTBELLY to purchase 6 SUBS and 3 orders of SOUP at 8:00 P.M. Firstly, they were not met with a friendly greeting. (maybe because of time of day?). Secondly, when given the SUB order, they immediately responded with a smart remark and displayed resistance in filling the order. Family member response was. "YOU are open until 9:00. RIGHT?"Staff then began to fill order. Three SUBS were to have GIARDINIERA ON SUB and THREE with GIARDINIERA on the SIDE.ORDER filled and handed to family. Upon examination of order, all sandwiches were soaked in. GIARDINIERA and carelessly assembled. After calling shop because of error, MANAGER argued with family and rudely stated he was exaggerating and lied about what occured at the shop. Apparently this establishment needs additional MANAGER TRAINING as well as STAFF TRAINING in the area of Respect and Courtesy to the customer. I will never return to this location and will make sure that all family and friends go elsewhere where they will be appreciated. There was never any reference to possibly make amends for this occurrence LOCATION. 6243. E STATE ST. ROCKFORD IL. 61108
Manager definitely needs training. I recently went to the Potbelly across the street from my home. I have been a regular at this Potbelly when it opened over 20 years ago. I have a small appetite and tried to order a kids meal even though I am well over 10 years old. The manager told me they couldn't serve me this because I was too old. I said I had been ordering this for my mother when she was alive and now that I'm older I wanted to order this. The manager told me he could not sell this to me because I wasn't a kid. He told me to never come there again. I said I wouldn't (even though I knew I probably would). I couldn't see the manager's name, he turned his back to me and ran away when I asked for it. I decided go to a nearby Wendy's. I left. I am 5'3", 123 pounds and am 72 years old. I use a cane when I walk. I hadn't even walked 1/2 a block when a policeman stopped me. He told me that the "manager" told me to NEVER RETURN to that Potbelly. He asked me about what had happened. I said I wanted a kids meal. He wouldn't sell it to me because I was too old. I said I had enough loyalty points to order a larger meal...but I didn't want one that was that large. Of course, we never got to that because the obvious D.E.!. hire and future child abuser and wife beater was having a fit because I wanted to purchase a small meal (b.t.w....I would have paid the adult price even without the points.) Of course, I was never offered an alternative. The manager immediately called the cops on me (who happened to be a neighbor of mine) I called Potbelly customer service and explained the entire ridiculous situation to them. The website said that they would get back to me...either by e-mail or a phone call. It's been over a week and I haven't heard a thing. I'm pretty sure this "incident" was videotaped. And I'm pretty sure that anyone from the Potbelly corporate office will not get back to me. But I'm positive that it is NOT Potbelly's policy to call the cops if I customer wants to order a kids meal if the customer is not a kid. I didn't know that was a crime.
Potbelly updated their app and their rewards program, which allowed perks members to redeem coins for a number of different perks, instead of only earning up to a free sandwich. I had earned enough coins to redeem for a free sandwich, and I intended on doing so, but the new app was less than user friendly without specifying that you needed to touch the sandwich icon to redeem for it. I was instead awarded a free salad, which would be fine had my salad experience not been underwhelming when our location didn’t have the greens mix, only shredded romaine. I reached out using the “Contact Us” page on 2/2/2024. No response. I have reached out multiple times since then using the “Contact Us” page and also on social media. Four weeks later, and I still have no response from anyone. It’s disappointing as someone who ordered via the app multiple times a week to have absolutely no response after this long. I have started to question if customer service even exists at this company. I do not plan on ordering from Potbelly until this has been resolved.
I would like to comment on what I feel is some of the worst customer concern and retention by a store manager I have ever been involved with. Ok so I ordered 3 Original Chicken Salad sandwiches all the exact same way, everything , no mayo or mustard. After arriving home it was discovered that 1 was made correct while the other two literally only had Chicken Salad on bread. (I want to add that this wasn't the first time a wrong order came from Frankfort). So after a quick phone call to the manager she said I would have my name on a list to get the sandwiches in the future. Ok I am wanting to eat now so I went in immediately. I am hungry now and that's why I ordered the sandwich today, not later. I even brought the bad ones with me to give them to the store. I have no use for them , they are made wrong. While the new sandwiches are being made, I asked a new girl if I could at least have a shake for compensation of having to come back to the store on a Saturday night, when I wanted to be home watching the Blackhawks game eating my sandwich. She said she would ask the manager and to my surprise the manager refused me a free shake. So I guess she feels that these new sandwiches are my compensation? HEY YOU MADE THEM WRONG and I had to come back and waste my time withe this B.S. again ! Its not like you gave me money back. My wife was a corporate manager for Wendy's back in the day, she said this is a ridiculous way for a customer to be treated. To think that my aggravation and time is not worth a Pot Bellies milk shake?I will NEVER and I mean NEVER eat at this company again if I don't hear from corporate on this. I contacted them as well. There is plenty of other good sandwich shops around that I don't have to spend my money here. Again I want to be clear, I forgive the gal who made the mistakes with the sandwiches, $hit happens as they say. However the arrogance of the manger to think that she gave me equal compensation for my aggravation is beyond words. Adios Potbellies !!!!
