We chose to stay at the The Queens Hotel to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. The Hotel has its own ample parking for residents which was one reason that we chose it. The huge stairs at the entrance was a bit tricky to negotiate with our luggage. Once inside we were immediately impressed by the stunning decor in the hallway and in the dining rooms. This hotel looks the business. Our room was very clean as one might expect and we had a great view of Southsea Common with its war memorials, a hovercraft and numerous ferries going to and from the Isle of Wight and France. We could also see Clarence Pier. The Spinnaker Tower that is next to the entrance to the Historic Dockyard was visible from our window. The Spinnaker Tower looks close by but this turned out to be deceptive. It was actually 2.5 miles away by foot so we had to use the car and park in the Historic Dockyard’s car park. The food at the hotel was amazing. Very tasty and presented so well it looked too good to eat. One of us has numerous food intolerances. The hotel’s restaurant was able to accommodate this to a great extent. Our only criticism would be that the menu one got depended on what type of booking one had made with the hotel and we were frequently given the wrong menu. What was on the menu was also the same every day but that wasn’t a problem for us. On the whole we felt we were being looked after rather well.We would definitely like to stay at The Queens Hotel again and would recommend this hotel to others.
