I am extremely disappointed with Yale’s handling of a premature product failure.
I purchased a Yale YSM/520/EG1 electronic safe in 2021. It has been used only a handful of times and has always been kept indoors. Despite this, the electronic keypad failed completely — no response at all, even with brand-new batteries.
Yale’s response was to say the product is out of the 2-year warranty and that there is “no fix”, despite the fact that the electronic keypad/control unit is a modular, replaceable component and the safe itself remains mechanically functional. Instead of offering a repair, replacement part, or meaningful goodwill solution, I was offered a 20% discount code to buy another Yale safe — effectively asking me to spend over £200 again after their product failed prematurely.
I expected far better durability from a domestic safe and much better customer support from a brand like Yale. This experience has completely undermined my confidence in both the product quality and after-sales support.
I would not recommend Yale electronic safes based on this experience.
