⭐ 0/5 – If I could give negative stars, I wouldYork Car Rental has been one of the most frustrating, dishonest rental experiences I’ve ever had.I was charged nearly $700 upfront for tolls under the clear and explicit explanation that it was refundable and that only the tolls actually used would be deducted, with the remainder returned. That representation is the only reason I agreed to the charge.Now—conveniently after the fact—they are backtracking and changing the story.This is either gross incompetence or outright deception. You cannot tell customers one thing to secure their money and then reverse course once the transaction is complete. That’s not a misunderstanding—that’s bait-and-switch behavior.To make matters worse, they require customers to sign documents without providing any documentation of what is being signed or what has already been signed. I was not given copies, nor was I provided a receipt afterward. Being asked to sign blindly, with no transparency and no paper trail, is completely unacceptable.To be clear: • $700 for tolls is already outrageous • Promising a refund and then refusing to honor it is unacceptable • Backtracking after the rental is complete destroys all trust • Requiring signatures without documentation or receipts is a massive red flagCustomer service has been dismissive and unhelpful, offering excuses instead of accountability. No ownership. No integrity. Just “policy” suddenly appearing where clarity once existed.I strongly advise anyone considering York Car Rental to read every word, record every conversation, and think twice before handing them your credit card. If this is how they handle tolls and signatures, I can’t imagine how they handle bigger issues.There are far too many reputable rental companies out there to deal with one that operates like this.Avoid.
