I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at Zara Westquay Southampton.
On Saturday, 18 April, between approximately 4:00 and 5:00 PM, while I was leaving the fitting room in the children’s section with my 9-year-old daughter, a member of staff (who appeared to be a manager) spoke to me loudly and in a very disrespectful and unprofessional manner in front of other customers.
As my English is not very strong, I did not fully understand what she said at the time. However, it seemed she was referring to items I had left in the fitting room while I was planning to find another size for my daughter. Instead of explaining this calmly, she chose to speak in a harsh and commanding tone, which was completely unnecessary and inappropriate.
This created a very embarrassing situation, as several customers turned and looked at us. My daughter became extremely upset and distressed, refused to continue shopping, and insisted on leaving the store immediately. She later told me she does not want to return to Zara because of how uncomfortable she felt.
What is even more concerning is the complete lack of accountability from the staff. When I asked for this person’s name, neither she nor any of the other employees were willing to provide it—even after I clearly explained that I intended to report the incident. I also asked to speak with the store manager (“boss store”), but no assistance was provided.
I have already submitted a formal complaint regarding this incident and I am now raising this publicly as I expect this matter to be taken seriously and properly addressed.
This experience is far below the standard I would expect from a global brand like Zara.
