Review Time
Got my package in barely 3 days where I picked EMS shipping as the method, a total of 8 days starting from when I placed the order. Boxes were perfectly packaged, no damage or indents. Overall an outstanding and everlasting first impression of the amiami website! Most of these negative reviews generally stem from personal experiences, such as account bans and figure/ item malfunction - 99% of the time that issue is out of amiami's reach and can possibly be rectifiable with customer support. Overall, I recommend this site for curious first-time buyers, since this site provides items that are down to 50%(or more) less of their prices than they'd be in the west. Obviously, my review may be looked down upon since I've only gotten from here once compared to others, but I don't mind !! ^_^
I'm a more recent customer for AmiAmi as I always prefer ordering from local anime stores due to shipping costs, so I'm usually only using this for goods that don't end up there.
The pricing tends to be cheaper due to it all being JPY, but shipping cost tends to null that anyways. Unless you are buying smaller merchandise, expect minimum 30-50 bucks paid to ship something out unless its surface. This cost can get more extreme and rack up to the hundreds, especially once taxes get factored into it. Don't order from here if you don't want to pay that much.
Also they can be rather strict. Do not cancel excessively or try to cancel an order they invoiced (if you cannot pay you likely will receive a ban anyways), if you believe you cannot pay for an order ask for a cancellation asap before you get invoiced. You can explain the reason is money issues and they will have more lenience. If you're prone to impulse spending I wouldn't recommend using this site just because of this.
Overall its a good site to use but can be pricier if you're primarily here for figures. Just make sure you can afford it and are aware of your orders, if you can't pay for something just be aware ahead of time before its released so you can cancel without any major issue. If you have more payments compared to cancellations I wouldn't worry about any repercussions, but you should still be aware of the cost.

I have ordered two figurines and badges. Both packages arrived in perfect shape, they are very well packaged - figurines are in a big box surrounded by plastic from both sides and the box is packaged in tons of paper. There were surprisingly absolutely no flaws. I have shipped to Europe, I chose surface mail shipping method and it both arrived in about exactly 4 months. HOWEVER!!! One figurine, with a 1 year pre-order wait, has been postponed 2x, delaying it by 3 months, and another one that is still in pre-order is being delayed by 2 months already, though I assume that is not amiami's fault but the fault of the makers of the figurines. Because of that, one of my orders has been split in two, where only 1 item was postponed, and because I didn't want them to ship the 1 item order by itself, I had to cancel the order of that item, which unfortunately worsens your "customer credibility", where if you cancel enough orders, they will shut down your account and you won't be able to have things delivered from them, but that hasn't happened to me yet. But I asked them if the one item could be shipped with another pre-order I had coming, but it wasn't possible. Other than that, I am very satisfied with my purchases and will be ordering more from them.
Where do I even start… I purchased a preowned figure from AmiAmi rated B+, which means it was unpacked and displayed but nothing was missing or damaged. The shipping and customs fees were incredibly expensive, and only DHL was available. I bought it anyway because it was supposed to be a gift. When the figure arrived… well, a part was missing, and it’s a part needed to properly assemble another part of the figure. I contacted customer support and sent what felt like 50 photos, only to be told that the only option is to return the figure. I would, however, only be refunded the price of the figure not the expensive shipping and customs fees. Thanks for a mistake that wasn’t even my fault. Why can’t you check your figures for completeness before sending them? Also, shipping has become expensive lately only DHL is offered now, while other Japanese shops still ship the same figures via EMS or Airmail.I’m just really disappointed and will be avoiding AmiAmi from now on. Fortunately, there are plenty of other Japanese figure sellers.
I today recieved my 2nd delivery from AmiAmi in a short amount of time (about 3 weeks). The packaging was solid and secure and all paper except for the tape. Which is better for the enviroment. These were both pre order items. I didnt have too pay up front and the informed me before putting in the pre order that shipping would be expensive. That not something AmiAmi controls and it was nice they inform you on the website before the purchase is made. Everybody who says the where surprised. Please read the notice before you confirm the order. The payment was only requested when they had taken delivery of the item. This came with the calculation of the shipping cost at that point. Again shipping is pricey but not something AmiAmi can control. Sadly shippimg is just an expensive proposition. Nevertheless the package arrived swiftly and due to the solid packaging is was in perfect condition even if it had to travel almost 10000 miles. Arigato AmiAmi.
Amiami is a decent website so long as you never need customer support. I cannot recommend them in their current state. Amiami will request payment months in advance and then never send your items. I paid for items in October and they still have not shipped them. Additionally, in the event that Amiami decides to ship your items they will advertise and charge you nearly double the regular shipping prices for 2-3 week delivery when your items will not even ship until multiple months later.
