Excellent customer service, but personal loan process can be tough

The customer service is fantastic and very friendly. However, securing a personal loan can be quite challenging. The representative handling my loan was incredibly helpful and even reached out to me before her leave. 😅

Terrible experience

I noticed suspicious activity on my account and called the urgent fraud number to block my cards. I was on hold for 60 minutes and still waiting.

Avoid this service

We only needed to adjust our mortgage, but after over 3 hours on hold, we received no assistance. The company seems to have cut back on customer service staff and branches to boost profits. I suggest looking elsewhere; I got a prompt callback from another bank's mortgage helpline in just 5 minutes.

Frustrating account opening process

I arrived in New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa on October 17 and wanted to open a bank account. I prepared everything online, including a letter from my host for proof of address. It took 3 weeks to process my application, during which I made several inquiries, only to be given an appointment for January 1, 2026. They ignored my request for a specific branch, which was crucial since I had a job waiting for me. I ended up opening an account with another bank in just one day.

Need improvement in service and training

It took 40 minutes to speak to someone, only to be told they couldn't assist me and I'd have to call back on the maturity date. Their letter stated any changes needed to be reported 2 days prior. Instead of finding a solution, I was met with a 'can't do' response. I found my own solution, but they lost my investment. They seem to have prioritized entertainment over effective customer service.

Difficult credit card limit increase

I attempted to increase my credit card limit by $2000 after having it for 6 years. The process was more complicated than getting mortgage pre-approval, with requests for numerous small transaction details and pay slips. They even canceled my request because I missed a call while at work.

I visited a branch today and faced a long queue while only two representatives were assisting customers. One staff member remained in her office, aware of the queue, yet chose to stay inside instead of helping.
