Review Time
Extremely disappointing experience with the platform. If you don't align with certain political views, you won't feel welcome. It's unfortunate, as this used to be a fantastic online community. Over the past five years, it has transformed into a site focused on specific political agendas, where moderators will remove users who express differing opinions. After being a member for over 20 years, I feel my time here has reached its conclusion. Such a pity.
This website and its forums are incredibly disappointing. If you don't align with their extreme views, you're not welcome. It's unfortunate, as it used to be a fantastic place to engage online. Over the past five years, it has transformed into a platform for political propaganda, where moderators will ban you for disagreeing. After 20 years as a member, I feel my time here has come to an end. Such a pity.
It's quite amusing how ineffective the moderation is on this site. A member in the sports forums is now dictating what can be posted. After getting close to a ban, they created a new account and resumed their previous behavior. It's no surprise that the forum is losing valuable and insightful contributors.
The general chat area is engaging and diverse, while the TV section disappoints compared to others. Specific forums like TV and tablets are helpful, but I can't speak for the rest. Unfortunately, the Politics forum has become hostile to anyone not sharing extreme views, leading to a stifling environment. Moderators seem to punish dissenting opinions harshly, causing many members to leave. The decline of the Politics forum is truly regrettable.
I've noticed a Facebook group formed by former members, indicating a decline in both user engagement and content quality on the site. Many articles are outdated or irrelevant, although some reviews are excellent. While the forums are generally good, activity is low, and moderation varies. The Politics forum has become restrictive, allowing only certain viewpoints. Despite numerous complaints, the management seems dismissive of the feedback. An overhaul of moderation is needed to revitalize the community.
I completely resonate with recent observations about the forum. No credible community should ban users for simply using terms like 'fanatic', yet this site tolerates a clear bias. A recent post with derogatory language was allowed, demonstrating the inconsistency in moderation.
While the tech discussions are solid, the Politics forum has become a space for one-sided rants supported by overly strict moderators. Any deviation from the accepted narrative leads to immediate bans, despite the lack of rule violations. The management seems indifferent to the declining membership and the heavy-handed moderation is evident.
If you lean right politically, steer clear of anything political on this forum. It has become a strong left-leaning echo chamber, and dissenting opinions are swiftly silenced. It's disappointing, but sticking to technology discussions may be your safest bet.
I used to be an active participant, but I've left due to biased moderation. What was once a vibrant community is now dominated by cliques and a few moderators who seem more focused on control than fostering discussion. The approach feels personal and punitive, driving away valuable contributors for minor disagreements. It's disheartening to see a community decline in this manner.
