DO NOT TRUST WHAT YOU SEE ON THEIR WEBSITE! Ive been receiving Blue Bay Travel emails for some time and always thought their holidays look amazing. So as soon as I got the chance to afford one of their holidays, it was straight to Blue Bay I went. I found a 5* Mexican holiday that seemed to have everything I'd been dreaming of. I booked through the website and paid £380 deposit, the next day I started looking at the hotel and reading reviews and other people's experiences and found out that on on top of the Sargassum (seaweed) making the sea a dirty brown colour which is not recommended to swim in, there are also Aligators from the mangrove nearby that go into the sea and on the beach! Absolutely, nowhere on the website did it mention this. We had booked a gorgeous hotel on a beautiful beach and expected to be able to at least go on it! When I called Blue Bay to explain I no longer wanted to go to this location, they did offer to change my booking for an admin fee of £25 per change. Looking again at the website and comparing different holidays on other sites, the holiday we decided on was with another travel agent. I called Blue Bay who said I needed to cancel in writing, which I did immediately, this was only 3 days after originally booking. I received an email stating that they can change my booking but I didn't want to as we had decided on the other holiday. So I wrote back stating that I want to cancel. I waited for 5 days before they responded by telephone to say they would change my holiday and waiver the admin fee. I was annoyed because I had waited 5 days and they still hadn't cancelled my booking as requested. I feel really let down by this company, they don't advertise properly, if they had put a disclaimer on the hotel details explaing that there was a possibility that guests can't use the beach or go into the sea, then I would never have booked it in the first place! Surely this is false advertising and they are conning people to book their holidays without giving facts of the whole situation at these resorts. They have told me that I won't receive my £380 deposit back as that's just the way it is! I would hate to see anyone else be conned like I was, please do your research before booking with this company.
