Car Shield is a scam. They are an insurance company and all they do is find different ways not to pay claims. You better make sure you have every receipt and invoice of everything you have ever had done to your car and then just maybe they will pay but probably not.

Horrible company. Made us wait 2 weeks for a decision and not only denied our claim but voided our policy. Very convenient now that it’s paid in full. Also told us as long as we had a claim #, they would cover the rental car. Called it complimentary, as if we didn’t pay for something else they will deny. Total scam, take total advantage and screw their customers. DO NOT USE!!

I will have used CarShield for two years this coming May. Keep in mind that at around $170/month, I have paid in around $4000. Unfortunately, I have had to call on them twice regarding my vehicle. Both times I have used a mechanic that I am familiar with due to the fact that his business is the one my employer uses for our vehicles, and he is a certified master mechanic and not some cookie-cutter mechanic at some cookies-cutter repair shop. The first time it took both the mechanic and myself several hours to finally get someone on the phone to get my repair in motion. However, if you’re calling to buy a policy, there’s someone waiting to sell one to you, and you’re on and off of the phone in under twenty minutes. I didn’t leave a review then because they pretty much covered what they were supposed to although they certainly didn’t make the process easy. I even had the privilege of being on the call with the mechanic and the CarShield representative due to the fact that it took both of us calling throughout the day, and I was the first person to get someone on the phone where I added the mechanic to the call. I know why many mechanics don’t like dealing with them as the conversation and process was irritating and almost laughable. I’m surprised he didn’t charge me labor costs to deal with them. In the end I paid my $200 deductible and CarShield paid roughly $400 or so.

As far as my most recent experience goes, my vehicle needed a repair and I did quite a bit of research on the issue before deciding to drop it off with the mechanic because I wanted to see if it were something I could do mainly because I dreaded having to have him deal with CarShield again. After watching a video of the repair process, I faced the reality that it was something that was too complex for me to take on. Additionally, the repair was something that commonly occurred with my vehicle, and the parts used to repair it could be upgraded to better quality replacements that were proven to last longer. I dropped my vehicle off on Tuesday and the claim was filed that day. I received the estimate from my mechanic and waited for what I knew was going to be the inevitable process of seeing how CarShield could try to spend as little of what I have paid in as possible. Two days passed where CarShield was back and forth with the mechanic asking for pictures of the four corners of the vehicle and providing him with other hoops to jump through. Don’t get me wrong. I understand that there are people out there that will try to take advantage of a warranty, and I’m sure there are plenty of bad apples that have gotten away with it which is why many of these protocols are in place. However, you would think that there would be categories for specific vehicles regarding specific repairs that are understood to be common and inevitable where you wouldn’t have to go through so much trouble to determine whether or not the owner of the vehicle is guilty of negligence or just someone trying to be dishonest. The morning of the third day CarShield finally reached out to inform me that the part required could be found at a cheaper price than the one my mechanic wanted to use, and the mechanic did not allow unapproved parts meaning that I would have to cover the roughly $260 difference. My head almost exploded. I could have rented a car through CarShield for all this time and they would have had to spend more than that, and I elected not to because I didn’t believe I really needed it thanks to friends and family that are close by. I don’t even think that I’ve mentioned that my wife is due with our son this coming Saturday. I told the rep all of this just so they had it on record, and I understand that there wasn’t much more she would have been able to do for me anyway. To get back on track, I accepted the terms and I will be paying the $260 difference for the part because I know my mechanic is getting me the best replacement and not some cheap refurbished crap that’ll eventually lead me back into this painful cycle all over again in addition to the $200 deductible which will come to around $500 when it’s all said and done. So, around lunch on the third day my mechanic reached out to tell me he can now, three days in, order the part that probably will take a day or two to arrive so that he can complete the 2-3 hour repair on my vehicle. If I would have rented the car for all of this time, I may have gotten my money’s worth, but I didn’t really need it and I’m not one to take more than I need.

In the end, I still will have spent less than what I would without CarShield. Don’t let the kind and caring radio adds fool you, though. They’ll take your money every month. They’ll call you five times a day every day you’re late on a payment which happened to me one time the first year I had the policy. When you need them to hold up their end, they’ll try everything they can to do anything but what is best

My husband called Car Shield to make sure that they would cover repairs on his truck. They told him yes. They also let him know where he could take it. Union 76 near our house accepted Car Shield
He took his truck and when they called Car Shield they were told they would not cover the repairs. Union 76 called and told my husband what Car Shield said.
My husband called and he was told that the repairs would not be covered.
He was confused because he was told yes.
Car Shield is taking money from people. They are making money and not saying what the commercial says.

Sincerely,
Very Disappointed

Awful, deceptive company. I have been paying for 6 years to Carshield almost $8,000 and never had a claim until recently. They denied covering the most important claims that they state they cover, transmission and coolant system. They lied to me on 2 occasions about not denying any claims and 2 car repair places turned the claims in. So, I have to sell my car for parts because its too expensive for me to pay for the repairs. So, I am out almost $8,000 and a car.

Impressive Resolution by the Support Team

The support team effectively managed the situation regarding this month's payment, especially since it coincided with my attempt to cancel. They also confirmed that the payment would be applied to next month's balance.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. Proceed with caution.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. Proceed with caution. They refused to cover the shop rate to repair my vehicle and only offered one used component of the complete part that required replacement.
I terminated my agreement, only to discover they continued to charge me for the next six months. Despite my calls indicating the cancellation, they would not end my contract. I had to involve my credit card company to dispute a charge, and they processed the credit, then recharged my account the following day, claiming my account was overdue. Their customer service was disrespectful, insisting I couldn't prove I had canceled and that they were entitled to continue charging me. They repeatedly claimed to have checked their records and found no evidence of my cancellation. I spent hours on the phone. This operation is a scam, and I regret to share this.

Unprofessional Follow-Up After Cancellation

After I decided to cancel my account, the representative kept pressuring me to maintain it. I explained that I couldn't afford the service anymore, and she suggested that my spouse could assist with the payment. I clarified that we manage our finances separately and I didn't want to involve him. Shockingly, just a minute after our call ended, my spouse received a call from her, despite me explicitly stating not to contact him. He wasn't associated with my account, and her actions were completely inappropriate. While this may seem trivial, the conversation would reveal the unprofessionalism.

Looking for Recommendations for Audi Service

I haven't been able to use it yet since my local dealer closed last week. The closest Audi dealership is now 150 to 200 miles away. I've been advised to look for a reliable automotive repair shop. Do you have any suggestions for other dealerships where I can take my Audi for service?
