Clutter made a great offer. I can’t argue with that. Setting up the appointment was easy although doing the virtual walk-through so that AI could guess what I was going to be storing was a little confusing and not very well explained on the website. But then again I’m a 66-year-old man so who knows? Maybe I just didn’t understand it. What I did understand was that the customer service via Zendesk, left a little bit to be desired. But when I placed a call to the company, they cleared up all my confusion. Again, I’m older and I just like talking to people. All the frustrations though went away when the two movers came to load up my stuff. They couldn’t have been nicer people. They worked hard. There was no complaining about the stairs or the cold weather. They were just highly professional and really brought the clutter brand to life. I would use them again in a heartbeat as long as my heart keeps beating, as I mentioned I’m getting up there, and this is probably my last move.
We turned to a storage service expecting basic care and accountability. However, when our items were returned, one large box was completely missing, and another item was damaged. The total value of what was lost or damaged is approximately $1,300. When we submitted a claim, the company offered only $80 in compensation, citing that anything more wasn’t possible because the items were 'not insured.' This reasoning is unacceptable. Insurance is intended for unpredictable events, not for failures in inventory management and handling. Losing a customer’s belongings is not an 'unforeseen circumstance'; it indicates a failure in operations and responsibility. If the company’s policy is that customers must bear significant losses when the service itself misplaces or damages property, that raises serious concerns. It suggests a lack of accountability, insufficient safeguards, and a claims process that favors the company rather than the customer. We trusted them to store and return our possessions but ended up facing a considerable financial loss and no viable recourse. A $1,300 loss paired with an $80 payout is indefensible, and customers deserve better protection and transparency. We’re sharing this experience to inform others about potential issues that may arise when using this storage service.
Clutter hires the best people. I’ve used this company for 8 years for multiple moves and storage in two states. Their facilities are good value for the premium price but the people are what make this a stand out company. I’ve never had a concern about having their folks in my home and they’re well trained in how to avoid injury and carry heavy items safely and avoiding scrapes and dropped items.
Promised 3 movers 2 showed up…then charged an extra hourWithout permission doubled the cost of my space as the spaces they advertise are only 4 ft high… so an existing 8 x 10 container needs two 8 x10 clutter containers. Nowhere on the site is this mentioned…double whatever is quoted.
Constant communication throughout the move process. Arrival time, break time, storage capacity status. Wrapped every piece of furniture for protection including art pictures and mirrors. Was very impressed. Professional and courteous crew.
The movers themselves were awesome! They took great care of our items and were very professional. I did feel totally misled about the pricing for disposal, however. The website lists $75 for a sectional then (after they’ve removed it) tell me it’s $75/per cubic square!! So I spent almost as much in the couch to remove it. If you meant $75 PER, then say so. That doesn’t make me want to use them again or refer this company to friends.
