Whilst it was simple to book one room, when I wanted to book a second room, there was only an option to book a second room that was the same. This was a problem as there was only one room in the price range and I wanted to book a different price range room. As I wanted a single booking rather than two separate ones, I had to go for two more expensive rooms. I'm sure they will be lovely but more flexibility is needed.
I’ve used Country Hotel Breaks a few times and couldn’t fault them until now. 3 days before our spa hotel holiday we received an email stating that due to “unexpected operational issue” they had to cancel our booking. The email stated that their priority was to find a solution to us but it was worded in such a way that it made us believe that we had to find a different hotel, even though we have booked our trains. Eventually we found out that all we had to do was book directly with the hotel - why Country Hotel Breaks didn’t do this on purpose behalf or inform us that it’s only a minor issue is beyond me. The other problem was that the hotel couldn’t honour the £100 voucher we had with CHB so we had to get a receipt and claim it separately. The whole experience was extremely convoluted and although we understand that unexpected things happen, the way it was handled was very poor and unprofessional.
Following a telephone call to discuss my requirements I have received nothing but great service. From the initial call to change the details of a gift voucher I had been given, to making suggestions for suitable hotels, to facilitating my final choice, Mary, in Reservations, has been extremely helpful. She has emailed suggestions and kept in touch whilst I was collating dates and availability - an excellent example of fabulous customer service.
