So not sure on what the heck happened, but the sent me an email saying I owe British Gas some money, the usual bla bla stuff, but here is the thing I actually check my accounts and kept them up to date, so I KNOW I owe British gas nothing, in fact they owe me, as some of my accounts are in credit.

Do your own checks on whatever account they claim to have on you before handing over anything.

Inaccurate Billing for a Nonexistent Debt

My mother received a bill for a utility service at an address we recently vacated, claiming it's an old debt. We have never had this service since moving, nor did the previous occupants. This feels like a total scam. I will be reporting this to the appropriate authorities and law enforcement.

This service is terrible. I'm uncertain if I owe them any money! They assert I owe a sum but provide no proof of how they arrived at this figure. I've just received another threatening letter indicating a surcharge. This feels like harassment, especially without any evidence of my alleged debt.

Incorrect Debt Claims

They are pursuing a debt linked to a property that I have no association with, in a town I have never been to. I sent an email and followed up with a call, where I reached someone who mentioned this is a common issue and assured me they would clear my name. If that happens, I may return to adjust my rating, but they shouldn't be threatening random individuals simply because of name similarities.

Unreachable Support

What's the point of providing a phone number on the bill if no one can be reached? I've attempted multiple times to set up a payment plan, but all I need is to talk to a person. Is that too much to ask? I am willing to pay my debt; the issue lies with the service. Please resolve this.

False Claims and Threats

My spouse is not the account holder; I am. After moving, I transferred our account, yet she received a letter from this company claiming she owes money from our previous address. This is clearly false. They've also threatened that this could affect her credit score. It’s alarming that entities like this exist solely to intimidate honest individuals. They should retrain their staff to contribute positively to society.

Fraudulent Activities

Fraudsters! I received a letter, email, and phone calls demanding over £1000 on behalf of a utility company for electricity. My name isn't on any bills, and I don’t deal with them. We have a prepaid meter. I will compile all correspondence and report this to the authorities.
