Normally, my beautiful dgy products arrive quickly. My recent order was a little different. As part of a special deal, I requested skirts in a specific color. When my order was delayed due to overwhelming demand, DGY first offered extra bonus for my inconvenience. Then they updated order status and offered to send an alternate color for faster delivery if I preferred. I choose to wait for the color I wanted. When the skirts arrived, bot were perfect, exactly what I wanted. I could not have chosen better if I had been in the warehouse. Grace under pressure is the lesson of the day. Thank you Nicole & team.
Darn Good Yarn is a responsive company, with excellent customer service. Its ethos of providing fair and equitable employment to its artisan partners in India is really heartwarming. Reclaiming materials and empowering women, beautiful products. ⭐️ 🌟 🌟
Their yarn is expensive and I’ve gotten multiple orders where the yarn arrives covered in hair and dirt as if it was stored on the floor. The package itself is not damaged so it’s not gotten dirty through transit. The yarn is often not as pictured on the website. They make it impossible to return anything because they claim they have restocking fees which is just ridiculous. Also you get bombarded by emails but their product selection is limited. I no longer subscribe or shop here.
I love Dgy. They dress me in sumptuous colours and beautiful sari silks. I live in a hot, humid state, and I can't sweat because of my MS, so I love to feel the breeze blowing through this fabric; for me, it's a lifesaver. I (and my husband) love everything that I have purchased from Dgy. I'm also about supporting companies that invest in fair trade marketing with impoverished countries like India; I purchase many things from Nepal for the same reason: it gives women with very few options the chance to improve the lives of themselves and their families.
I generally buy from Sam’s sales. She is brilliant. I like to see a product before I buy it so the Facebook sales are brilliant for me. It is such a great and supportive community too. My latest purchase came from one of Nell’s live sales. It has an awesome yellow long layer that is perfect for spring. I plan to wear it on Easter Sunday. It also came with a gift of a small red stone bracelet and handwritten note. Beautiful 💕💕💕
I joined Darn Good Yarn thinking I would just give it a try knowing that I could cancel anytime or just order when I want you see groups and commitments have never been my thing. I live in the PNW so it’s often chilly. My wardrobe had three colors, black, gray and burgundy. I’ve always liked other colors but struggled to find clothing that fit my personality. In just six months, I have completely transformed my wardrobe to a beautiful kaleidoscope. I never thought this would happen at age 59. I can wear the knee length mini with confidence, even all year long with leggings in the winter. The gorgeous sari wrap skirts are incredible versatile and can be worn as shirts, dresses or skirts and can be worn on either side. I get so much wear out of one skirt when I travel! I wore a skirt for a black-tie holiday event and even do my gardening in my skirts. I have given skirts as gifts and always have women stop me to ask where it came from? I will say something I did learn as a newcomer was that there are so many other “sari skirt” groups out there that you might get a cheap deal from one of these groups like I did. Well, boy was that a mistake! I got a cheap, thin, polyester skirt the tore in two places the first time I washed it. These other groups also do NOT work to support their artisans with fair-trade ethics and many of them are copycats of DGY so be careful! DGY IS a women owned group with a 17-year history of working with talented artisans in India. With DGY these artisans now have sustainable safe, fair, employment to support themselves and their families. You can see their story for yourself at Darngoodyarn.com If that isn’t enough, they have an incredible Facebook group. I have watched the women on this group create lasting friendships all over the world but more importantly, I see other women being transformed while reflecting a positive self-image. I honestly can’t recommend Darn Good Yarn enough and my gratitude extends beyond having a closet full of their beautiful, silk clothing.
