We visited the newly opened café in a local supermarket. My partner ordered porridge, which came quickly. However, when she took off the lid, it was overflowing with water. She attempted to stir it and let it sit for a bit, but it remained unappetizing. The most frustrating part was the demeanor of the server, who seemed quite dismissive and unfriendly. Based on this experience, we likely won't be coming back.
We’ve been loyal visitors to Ed’s Easy Diner in Southampton for years. Sadly, today’s visit was a complete letdown.Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet, our food took 45 minutes to arrive—and only after we asked where it was. We could see it sitting under the hot lights in the open kitchen, untouched. Not once were we asked if we wanted a refill on our bottomless drinks, even though the server passed our table multiple times. The appetisers arrived with the mains, making it impossible to share comfortably due to the lack of space. The seasoned fries were so heavily salted they were inedible, and the sharing nachos were cold. No substitute was offered, and no genuine apology was given. After we flagged the cold nachos, they were removed from our table and then left under the hot lights in the kitchen for over 20 minutes before being thrown away. This isn’t just poor service — it’s potentially a food safety concern. This experience was a far cry from the cheerful, attentive service we’ve come to expect. It’s disappointing to see such a decline in standards. Sadly, we won’t be returning.
Ed’s Easy Diner delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a retro American-style eatery—delicious comfort food, friendly service, and a fun, nostalgic atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with upbeat rock ‘n’ roll tunes and a vibrant 1950s vibe that sets the tone for a great meal.
Service at the Cheshire oaks branch of Ed’s diner was amazing staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The wait time for our food was around 8 minutes. It was also delicious. We never have an issue when eating here either with the staff , service or the food.
The Southampton branch are clueless. I asked the host about what was gluten free. My sister and I ordered gluten free sausage and egg rolls. Turns out the sausage isn't Gf after looking at their online menu. The staff couldn't careless, never bothered with an apology. I had to ask for a refund. If this was a nut allergy my sister and I would be dead.
Used to love their breakfasts, they were unique with the sausage patties and very indulgent toast. Now, they have limited when you can order breakfast to early mornings only, which resulted in a wasted trip to Southampton. Then on a subsequent visit I discovered they reverted to normal sausages and the fried eggs were pretty undercooked couple with the food being cold.Very difficult to recommend when they run a breakfast only menu AM and still can't get the food out on time or to quality I've had in the past.
