Last summer, in July 2025, I took my adult sons, all in their 30s, along with my grandchildren, aged 5 to 20, to a theme park, and it turned out to be one of those rare outings that truly lingers in your memory. Witnessing my children rediscover their inner child alongside their own kids was a unique joy, and the park provided the ideal backdrop for this. The venue truly caters to all ages. From the youngest to the adults, there's a magical atmosphere that permeates the entire location. It's easy to understand why this park is such a beloved destination for many; it feels carefully crafted, engaging, and genuinely authentic. Another impressive aspect was the cost. We purchased nine entrance tickets for about the same price as just two tickets at a large themed park in a nearby country. This alone makes the venue exceptional, particularly for families. I was delighted to hear it being promoted on my local radio station in Scotland; it certainly deserves the attention. We created some of our best family memories there. It offers a full day of fun, filled with ambiance and happiness, making it a truly remarkable experience from beginning to end.
Last summer, in July 2025, I brought my grown sons in their 30s along with my grandchildren, aged 5 to 20, to Efteling, and it turned out to be one of those unforgettable experiences. Witnessing my children relive their childhood alongside their kids was incredibly special, and Efteling created the ideal environment for that. The park truly caters to all ages, instilling a sense of wonder from the youngest family members to the adults. It's clear why Efteling is a beloved choice among Europeans; it feels carefully crafted, immersive, and genuinely authentic. What also impressed me was the value. We purchased nine entrance tickets for about the cost of just two at a large themed park in a neighboring country. That alone makes Efteling stand out, especially for families. I was thrilled to hear Efteling being promoted on my local radio station in Dundee, Scotland; it truly deserves the recognition. We created some of our most cherished family memories there. It’s a full day of entertainment, rich in atmosphere and joy, and an overall wonderful experience from start to finish.
We had an absolutely fantastic few days at Efteling. There’s something for everyone without the pretentiousness often found in Disney Parks. The staff were very helpful, and the Bosrijk Hotel was superb with lovely touches. While it’s a bit of a walk from the park and the main hotel, the beautiful wooded path made it enjoyable, and the pool was perfect for relaxing after a long day exploring the park. We left with full hearts after having such a great time. Special thanks to everyone in the Caro show; it’s definitely a must-see!
We spent nearly €900 for a two-night stay for five at one of the hotels. After paying, I printed the entrance tickets from the website, but upon arrival, we were told, 'No, these are not valid tickets.' I tried explaining that I printed them from the official site, but the response was still, 'These are not tickets.' It appeared that only tickets from the app were accepted, which was frustrating as it often fails to connect to the internet. The staff at the entrance were extremely unpleasant, treating us like thieves despite our expensive stay, and were unhelpful and unprofessional. It felt like either a scam or sheer incompetence. Regardless, we won’t be coming back.
I’m giving one star because a young staff member made advances toward my boyfriend during our visit. I was tempted to give four extra stars to help with staff wages, so they could afford better vision care. It was surprising that she didn’t notice me right next to him.
I called to correct a mistake on my booking, and it turned out to be the easiest and most understanding experience. They changed the dates and times of my meal reservations quickly. Thank you to the team for exceeding my expectations on wait time (estimated at 8 minutes, but the call was completed in just 3 minutes), for understanding my issue, and for resolving it with a cheerful attitude!
Efteling is a stunning theme park that strikes the perfect balance between thrilling rides and family-friendly experiences. We stayed two nights in the Bosrijk Landhays, which was very clean and of good quality. My daughter adored her own room with a night cap and fairy tale book provided. The walk to the breakfast area and reception through the woods between ponds and lodges was serene, taking about five minutes at most. I appreciated being able to drive directly to my accommodation to drop off and collect my bags before parking my car. I’m torn between returning here or trying another hotel on site. The park itself is magical. I took my 3-year-old, who was thrilled to ride the new Jr coaster 'Max & Moritz.' There was so much for her to enjoy that we couldn’t do everything even with three days in the park. This isn’t a critique of the wait times; the longest we waited for a ride was 30 minutes. The dark rides are spectacular with grand scenes, numerous animatronics, great music, and delightful scent pods. The park even offered carriages as an alternative to strollers, which was unique. My daughter was more than happy to ride in the carriage as we explored the park. The fairytale forest exceeded my expectations, taking us over two hours to explore fully. My child loved discovering the different stories. For my wife and me, the major rides had single rider queues, which were helpful for avoiding longer waits. The coasters were enjoyable, but the storytelling enhanced the experience. 'Danse Macabre' blew my mind; it’s hands down the best ride in the park, though it may be scary for some children. All the staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. We felt welcomed and cared for from the moment we arrived at the hotel to when we left the park. My child was captivated by Caro, showcasing incredible talent through singing, dancing, acrobatics, and circus, telling a powerful story about life. I used to think Disneyland was the ultimate theme park experience, but now Efteling matches and, in some aspects, surpasses it. We can't wait to go back!
Regrettably, I have to give the park a very low rating. The new parking area is quite a distance from the entrance, which is inconvenient. The park entrance was somewhat messy due to construction, but that’s understandable. However, the main reason for my low score is the extremely rude staff. I’ve visited this park for the past 25 years, and although I vape in areas where it doesn’t disturb others, a rude staff member confronted me and my wife on June 11th, 2025, at 15:50, saying smoking was only allowed in designated areas. I explained that I was unaware of the new rules, thinking it was only prohibited in the queues, and apologized, but she responded in a dismissive manner. I later checked the app for smoke areas but couldn’t find any. It was incredibly frustrating, and I felt compelled to write this review while waiting in line. Please improve your smoking policies promptly.
This park isn’t very accommodating for disabled guests. My two youngest boys enjoyed it, and the park has a lot of potential, but if you can’t transfer independently, you won’t be able to enjoy the rides. My 12-year-old is a wheelchair user and can’t transfer by himself, so we typically avoid the rides. However, he wanted to go on one of the tractor rides with his brother. It was a safe, slow ride aimed at younger children, yet they wouldn’t even allow him on that. I felt so sad for him. We needed the care room mentioned in the app, but not a single staff member understood what we meant, directing us to a standard disabled toilet instead. We spent a significant part of the afternoon wandering in the rain looking for this care room, which no one could guide us to. We wanted to try the ride where disabled visitors wear a headset, but after 20 minutes of being ignored at the exit, we learned that the headsets were broken. Some staff were friendly, but it wasn’t a completely wasted day. However, if you're a thrill-seeker who can't transfer independently, I’d suggest avoiding this park.
An amazing theme park with the most delightful theming immersed in the woods. We stayed for three nights, and while the accommodation was beautiful, we would have appreciated a few more amenities, such as safes or wardrobes in the lodges. The rides were unique and fantastic, and the food was delicious and varied, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The sets were well-designed, and the shows were great. Overall, it was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with something for everyone, and I can’t wait to visit again! My only hope, although the journey is manageable, is for a direct coach service to the park.

See more
