The location is wonderful, my daughter had her wedding there and couldn't have asked for better. Every staff member was helpful and courteous. They made sure my daughters day was special.Food was also excellent. It was extremely useful to have everything neat and tidy the next day to return to suppliers.
This place was amazing! I was a wedding guest and the food was luxurious and yummy. There were a couple wasps and I am afraid of them but apart from that, it was amazing! Service and ceremony was amazing, food came out fast and they even gave us non-alcoholic ‘wine’ to toast with. The fact this has any negative reviews is crazy.Recommended if you wanna get married
I had a lovely time staying as a wedding guest at Redcoats! Not only were the venue and facilities beautiful and spotless, the staff provided a lovely experience. I arrived early for a wedding and the staff were very attentive in making sure I was comfortable. They even managed to get me into my room early which was a major bonus and something I was incredibly grateful for! The room was lovely and the wedding I attended was stunning as well (the venue's food was fantastic). The breakfast the next morning before checkout was also magnificent - endless continental breakfast options on top of lovely menu options (my eggs florentine were delicious). I'd definitely go back for a quiet weekend away.
Despite two attempts I still haven't been able to sample the menu and two birthday celebrations have been ruined by Redcoats this year.We booked for a birthday, which happened to be a bank holiday. At around 4pm the day before we got a call to say that they only had a limited menu because it was a bank holiday, which was known at the time of booking. Earlier in the year we had booked for another birthday and on arrival we were informed that there a power cut and again a limited menu. We tried to rebook for the following week but were told they were full. (We went to the Rusty Gun about a mile away and they had power)
I have to say, I'm really surprised to see the reviews on here because if I'd looked before I booked I may not have done. I'm really glad I did though. My wife and I dined here for our 10th wedding anniversary lunch and everything was exceptional. The food was superb, the service staff were incredibly attentive and there were lots of extra touches – complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival etc – plus the gardens looked beautiful in the Spring sunshine. Honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time and we are people who dine out regularly in quality restaurants.
Service was not good. We were seated at our table after a couple who arrived after us. We waited a while for someone to come and take our drinks order - we had to flag the waiter down! The waiter didn't really have much knowledge of the menu i.e how is the burger cooked, what exactly are the side dishes. The starter of calamari was chewy, of which 3/4 was left untouched but no questions asked to why. We had to ask for bread and charged for it (this used to come as standard and never had to be asked for). Our table was small and wobbly! The overall experience was similar to being in nando's (especially when my main was slammed carelessly at the table) Not what I'd expect from a restaurant like this.
Stayed night of 16th September 2018. Room cost £120 inc breakfastThe Farmhouse at Redcoats is set in beautiful countryside and ideal for a quiet weekend, if they do not happen to have a wedding or other event, as was our experience. We were fortunately unable to book a meal despite being guests. The restaurant was fully booked, actually empty but all staff were fully booked at the event. We have a dog and were allocated an almost windowless room, porthole sized window, with excellent shower and firm but comfortable bed. Usual drinks facilities.Breakfast. How many times should baked beans be reheated? Here’s a revolutionary idea, they cost so little, I suggest they should never be reheated. My vegetarian breakfast consisted of ; egg, sausage, half a tomato, hash brown(1); mushrooms and highly experienced baked beans. In fact the hash brown sausage and beans I suspect had shared the microwave together more than once. Breakfast coffee was not instant coffee, instant is not that bad. Self service toaster is broken, burns bread one side, untouched the other. Hotels have a feel. Staff were polite but did not appear to have any interest in their guests. The place appeared to lack leadership.I will never stay there again. Highly not recommended.
