Review Time
I would not reccomend paying for a pro account. Save your photos to a hard drive/s. As far as I can see, nothing has been improved as they said will be. It is very sluggish to use, like walking in puddles with water-logged shoes and socks.
Flickr have deleted my account but will not tell me why, yet all I had posted was my own scenic pictures from where I live. It shamefull that a company such as Flickr can do this with no warning and explanation is beyond me. The official response makes you feel that you have done something really bad when in fact you have not. Where are the helpfull staff? I gather that when they say not at liberty to discuss specifics means thay have not got a clue.Hi there, This account was terminated for Terms of Use and Community Guideline violations and will not be restored. You are no longer permitted to possess a Flickr account, nor access or use services, which includes as well as Attempts to create new accounts on either of these services will be deleted as well. We’re not at liberty to discuss the specifics of accounts closed for violations.
I am unable to login to my Flickr account since receiving an email saying that my subscription had been paid and was valid until January 2020. I cannot get a password reset as when I try it states my email is not valid. I have five years worth of photos on the Flickr servers and have paid for a service I am unable to use. The worst thing is that I have tried to contact Flickr directly by email using their Help form half a dozen times over the last few weeks and have received no reply. I understand there might be some kind of issue, but to not reply when I'm apparently some kind of special Pro member (which I've paid for!) really gets me angry.
I joined Flickr in 2012. When the site was owned and operated by Yahoo it was great. I always paid as a pro member and used the service primarily as a backup for my photos. 35,000 images, mainly set to private (as I don't want holiday snaps, pics of my kids, etc drifting around the internet) and could happily share a few pics with family members or friends if I so desired. As I'm a keen amateur photographer, I kept around 1500 photos public to show off as I also enjoyed the social aspect of the site. Flickr was bought out earlier in 2019 and is now owned by SmugMug. They changed servers earlier in the year resulting in downtime for certain features, which have never been brought back online. It's been several months since I saw the fantastic "Camera Roll" feature that I used regularly to sort the photos out. The servers seem slower to process information and the whole site a lot more clunky. However, I'm absolutely moving away from them after I discovered that some very intimate photos of my partner were sitting on my public feed despite being set to private. Deleted them from the site altogether, but somehow anyone (embarrasingly including family or friends looking at linked photos from Facebook) looking at my public profile could still see them and the view count below the pics kept going up. Deleted all public photos now which seems to have removed them from view, and I will be moving to another platform as soon as I've downloaded all my data. Will not be back. Avoid at all costs. :-(
Purge of Different Voices without Any Proof of Violation providedFlickr Trust & Safety staff Michael Hoffman is recently deleting and blocking free account users without any communications, any precautions, any explanations, and any factual proofs. It is a clear violation of freedom of expression and the worst kind of customer service which typical in these US tech giants. A bad example of uncivilised behaviour. First of all, deletion and blocking with no precautions, no communications, no explanations, no factual proofs shown for users are fundamental problems like what Flickr Trust & Safety staff Michael Hoffman recently so eagerly doing for his own individual interests and performance evaluation at the company. Their typically biased censorship and forcing measures against its users and consumers are violating human rights. The worst kind of customer service is also done by this kind of staff Michael Hoffman. Many victims of this kind of terrible corporate acts must place your complaints publicly and if possible victims should file a law suit against Flickr Trust & Safety staff Michael Hoffman and Flicker. Beside this problematic groundless censorship and its forcible measures against users and different voices, there is also more serious concern about their use of uploaded photos for facial recognition surveillance without any permissions. Like Mr. Paul Reynolds wrote here, Flicker Trust & Safety staff Michael Hoffman sends victims templated emails without any proof of violations, any detailed information and any communication. His templated email which is the proof of the worst kind of customer service below:-----------------Hello,Thank you for contacting Flickr. We have reviewed your account and found that it has been terminated for violating our Terms of Service. You are no longer permitted to use Flickr services and we will not be providing you with any content that you previously uploaded to Flickr.Future attempts to use Flickr will result in the termination of the account.Best regards,Michael HoffmanFlickr Trust & Safety-----------------It only proved that Flicker needs civilised behaviour as one of tech companies. Highly not recommended.
So upset at Flickr! It was supposed to be unlimited free storage - but now it's 1000 photos max, sure it was too good to be true. BUT can you make it easy for us to get the photos back and not threaten to delete them ?Ive requested to download all the photos, Flickr says they will send an email when the zip is ready, ok i waited several weeks, nothing...Now i go back to Flickr, and I have to download the albums one by one, that's so convenient! and do you think they could name the zip with the same name as the folder? nooo that's too convenient and Flick just wants to make it a pain in the arrrrr No wonder the company is dying, good riddance
I’ve been a Flickr Pro member for many years. For those who don’t know that’s the paid version rather than the free membership. Flickr moved from Yahoo around a year ago and changed the rules a little but being a paid up member that was not going to affect me. We were promised lots of changes including upgrades to the app etc. I’m yet to see any major steps forward. The app is rubbish and you can’t do simple things like add a photo from the Group page. You need to go into your photo and remember what the Group is called and do it the awkward way around.Come on Flickr, get your act together. I was happy when it was taken over as I thought Yahoo had let it stagnate a little but to be honest I’m yet to see any improvement. Did you take my money and run? Do you want me and members like me to stay?
