Review Time
I’m so disappointed in this company and will be canceling my policy due to their outrageous increase in premiums. I’ve had pet insurance with them for 1-3 cats for more than a decade, and over that time they’ve been generally great, but in the last two years my monthly premiums have skyrocketed (from $94 to $124 in 2025, and as of February from $124 to ***$211***!!! Bear in mind, two of my three cats are ages 3 and 5, and the other is a healthy senior (9)).
This unfathomable increase is not because I placed too many claims (I placed only one in the last few years) but because “As overall claim costs continued to rise, we periodically adjust our prices…These adjustments help us ensure the long-term sustainability of our program so we can continue covering veterinary costs without limits.”
So…because more people are getting pet insurance and Healthy Paws has to reimburse customers for covered care…the sole reason insurance companies exist…my premium is practically doubling? Absolutely not. I’ve recommended Healthy Paws to dozens of people over the years. I rescue and foster for several LA-based dog and cat rescues and whenever I place an animal I refer them. As soon as I finish this, I’ll be emailing all of them and suggesting they look elsewhere. Healthy Paws has decided price-gouging and profit are more important than offering reasonable monthly premiums and keeping long-time customers.
I hope they lose a lot of business. Shame on them.
Healthy Paws have literally saved my dog Pablo‘s life. I am forever grateful that their team is very easy to work with have not had any problems, and when it matters most they come through quickly without delays. Without them,I probably wouldn’t have my fur baby today. I hear of people having issues with their pet insurance and I can’t say that I have one thing to complain about. Whenever I’m sitting in the vets office, which unfortunately has been quite a few times, I always tell people about Healthy Paws. They truly are lifesaver!
My dog turned 8 years old and I just got a notice of a 70% increase in cost for his insurance. I took out the policy when he was 6 months old and have never filed a claim. The policy has been on auto pay for the full time. When I sent an email to the company complaining about the increase and stating I would need to cancel, they sent me an email saying if I did not change my cancellation, it would take effect. No attempt to keep my business! To me this is a window into their business model: insure pets during their healthiest years and do their best to cull their insurees as they get into the age where they may have need of the insurance.
Very unethical company. Insured my cat as a kitten with them for 90% reimbursement and $100 deductible. She just turned 10. Almost immediately after putting in my first “big” claim for an Echocardiogram, I got an email stating that my premium would double and go to $114 a month at my renewal. After paying that high premium for a year, I got a letter saying they were reducing my coverage to 70% reimbursement and increasing my deductible to $500. So basically I paid my premium for 10 years to cover things as my pet gets older. Now after turning 10 and being diagnosed with a heart murmur when I need the coverage the most, they reduce my coverage. And now I can’t switch companies because her heart murmur will be a pre-exhausting condition.
Claims have been denied for more than 90 days. The company claims they are posted, but they seem to be hidden as I can't find them. I was dealing with a medical disability (cancer) which caused late submissions. I'm very disappointed; I had three pets covered, but I won't be getting coverage for a fourth. Proceed with caution!
This was my second claim for my pet with the same diagnosis of HGE. I took her to an emergency veterinary facility where she received outstanding care. I submitted my claim to the insurance provider, and it was accepted without any issues. I was reimbursed smoothly according to my coverage. I highly recommend this pet insurance service.
I submitted a claim via U.S. Mail and reached out through calls and emails to confirm its receipt. They only responded after closing the claim, stating I hadn't provided the necessary information. This has been a frustrating experience, and now that my dog is 10, finding insurance for him seems impossible.
I enrolled my two cats in this insurance when I first adopted them as kittens. The service has consistently processed claims swiftly and justly. I've never had to dispute any decisions. I can't imagine being without this coverage; it has truly been a lifesaver for my furry friends.
