Review Time
I placed an order about two weeks ago but only reached out when I didn't receive it, only to discover it had never been shipped. I wasn't notified either, which was very disappointing. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone
Third time to order. First 2 times food was decent. On the third order I put meals immediately in the freezer. Pulled out the Salmon, Saffron Rice & Green Beans dinner and cooked according to directions. Woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning. Won’t be ordering again.
Let me start out by saying that my experience with ICON Meals has been the best so far (I've tried 5 other similar services). These folks seem to be on their "A-game". Their service has been quick, accurate, and transparent about all charges, etc. My order came pretty fast (I live in Chicago), and well packaged in a box lined with a foam-type lining. The food was still well-frozen, and ready to thaw or throw in my freezer. I was a little concerned when I saw the portions, but soon realized that, since they are vacuum sealed with plastic, it looks like there is less food than when you actually finish preparing it. I've been pleasantly surprised that I do feel full when finishing the meals (and I can eat - trust me!). As far as taste, most of the dishes have been pretty tasty, and generally better-tasting than other companies I've tried. I would give them 5 stars, except for one drawback, which is that there is only one way to cook the food, which is in the microwave (not my favorite way to cook). You have to cook the meals with the plastic covering on the food (it actually touches the food while cooking, which kind of freaks me out - maybe I'm paranoid). It IS nice to be able to prepare the meals quickly, but personally I'd rather take a little more time and maybe bake the meals instead, as I think that food prepared in a microwave just doesn't taste as good as other methods. Also note that it the recommended microwave minutes can vary from what is suggested. In my case, I have to zap the food a bit longer because my microwave is only 950w. That being said, I do like them enough to where I have just placed my second order with them. These meals are definitely convenient to have for times when there just is no time to cook. Overall, a pretty good experience.
These meals are fantastic. They are flavorful and meet my macros needs. I know some will say they are expensive; but my time is valuable. I like I can take one out of the freezer and to the office with me in the morning, it's easily defrosted by lunch, 2-3 minutes in the microwave and I'm ready to eat. I also appreciate the first responder discount. This beats the pants off every other meal delivery company out there. I don't have to think, I just heat and eat.
I’ve tried a few meal prep companies, varying prices and quality — Icon is my favorite by far and is great quality for a competitive price! The spices and sauces deff help with things like reheated veggies and are a great addition. Also appreciate the Mil / First Responder discount! Highly recommend giving this a try if you’re trying to up your meal game.
ICON meals is a serious life saver. I hate cooking every week and on top of that I have high blood pressure. ICON is one of the very few meal delivery services that are ACTUALLY healthy. By being able to create custom meal plans this company has legit saved my life by taking stress off of me and allowing me to eat truly nutritious food. I used Trifecta before and they just had to much sodium for me. The only complaint I really see about ICON is their lack of flavor and to me that is a huge positive, this is what helps keep the sodium level down and know I am eating properly. I can't say enough about this service
My trainer suggested Icon Meals as a great option to help with meal prepping since my life had gotten busy and I live in a rural area. Icon meals has delicious options that allow me to stay on plan and get delivered directly to my door! I have passed on the website to two friends already and they are excited to try the meals as well!
I would highly suggest finding another meal prep/delivery service. I got my meals delivered in a timely fashion and it didn't actually taste that terrible, considering it's a meal prep service, but the biggest problem I have is that within 5 minutes of eating my very first meal of theirs I was throwing up violently. Felt perfectly fine before the meal and felt perfectly fine after vomiting. Clearly something in the meal was at fault. Called the company for support but they were very quick to pass the buck. It was most likely the raw bacon or undercooked ground beef. Not sure which, maybe both? Moral of the story is do not risk your health and waste your dollars on this company
