Been to lombok for the first time in 2020 and I met the invest islands CEO in a local school I was visiting (this company funds many local activities and is well known for that). They helped me to purchase my first land in the South of the Lombok. Now I have three! Totally recommended.
I know invest island for more than 6 years now and I saw this company growing from a team of 3 people to around 50 employees now. They have always impressed me with how they grew up, the selection of lands they offer and their dedication to their clients. I have purchased a plot near Torok in 2020 as 3 of my friends as well. Looked into investing in a property with them. Sent through the contract for the property, got legal advice from a land and property lawyer in Indonesia and he said it was riddled with issues. Asked the team to then understand the ability to negotiate on the contract and speak to one of there many clients (there words) who have already gone through the process of having an asset managed by them. couldn’t give us a referral or even an email proving they have clients with working assets. Also this was in 2022 they said this will be built in 23. Were now towards the end of 2023 with no village close to being finished. Air on the side of caution.
Their PMA translates as a ‘Foreign Investment Company’ The PMA is recognized by the Indonesian government as a legal entity. I trust this company, especially after reading about its licensing on its official website. invest-islands.com
After years of backpacking trough SE-Asia Indonesia attracted me and my girlfriend the most. Due to the crazy housing market in Europe and our love of traveling we searched for a place we can enjoy both. Working in Amsterdam and Living in Indonesia would be a perfect combination.Our search ended in Lombok and the team of Invest-Islands, far away in the Netherlands and on the internet there are a lot of sketchy articles and stories about land ownership in Indonesia. I had tons of questions and in four months of meetings with Alan our sales contact in Hong Kong I got an answer on all of my questions.After many hours of meetings Invest-Islands helped us with our business visa's to enter Indonesia in June 2021. After our quarantine period we flew to Lombok and met the team in Kuta.Piece by piece it started to feel real, the office, the people, cars, visa's, the team was on location and had a real presence in Lombok.We went to visit the plot with Jack who flew from Bali for us and also he could answer all our questions.Two days after our visit we decided to buy the plot and sign all the paperwork in Kuta.Currently we are starting the design process and hope to begin building in the summer of 2022 when the infrastructure has been put in place.We knew this was going to be an adventure but until this moment (9 months later) I was very very easy. We wonder what bumps are ahead but the whole journey was great so far.Thanks again Invest-Islands.
I wanna give advice about the best option for having land in Indonesia by foreigners. I can not say that Invest-Islands is a scam, because not take your money for nothing, but they are cheating telling you that the best option to have land in Indonesia is making a company PMA... and this is what happens;Make a company in Indonesia for foreigners give you RIGHTS for rent land, that´s all. The main reason to make company is to do business, pay tax, have workers... and is not take advantage of the rights, this is the wrong use of the law and maybe today law is flexible, but who knows if tomorrow Indonesian law will realize of the tricky advice for own land from Invest-Islands and you lose the rights of your land.You don´t need to listen to me, just do your homework before doing this option, check in Real Estate companies in Bali, as houses and land are just rented for expats, for 25 years, which is the only way to own land by expats in Indonesia. Don´t be so arrogant and try to use the Indonesia Agrarian law in bad use, could fail and you could loose your investment. Again... do your homework, ask a notary in Jakarta about the best option and about the tricky use of the law.If you wanna make a hotel, yes, Invest-Island can help you to find land, but this "Landbanking" that they promote... is not the best option for your interest. The PMA rights to own land to a company have some issues as you have to build before 3 years in the land and pay tax, and have business in that land, do all the tax accounting, etc and have profits, workers, etc... not as easy as seems. You need to do administration and accounting, if no income and tax... you are using in the wrong way the law... very risk for your investment. Law is flexible today, who knows tomorrow.In June 2021 the law for PMA (foreign company in Indonesia) changed, the deposit to prove to make a company was 170.000$ to 724.000$. Maybe next month the PMA needs to have a minimum of 10workers, or make income per year for 100.000$... the law is changing and have a company give you some rights that could change tomorrow, and more responsibilities that could change tomorrowDo your homework, please. Lease is the real and fair way to use the law
