I was scammed through Kamernet. Just be aware and make sure the thing is real before you transfer any money. I contacted a woman that was "renting a room" in her apartment. I couldn't go for a "in person visit" but I asked for all the documents from her (her ID, a contract, I also did a video phone call with her...). Everything she sent me was real, she was real, except for the apartment. There was no apartment at all when I arrived to Amsterdam, even though everything seemed pretty real. And because I asked all this documentation from her upfront, I could report her to the police when I realized it was a scam and she has been sentenced for that a year later because I had everything as a proof (her ID, her bank account, my conversations with her via whatsapp, etc.). You may be wondering why would she be such a moron to give all her information? Because she has been doing it to internationals (I am from Spain), and I suppose that most part of internationals don't report this because they feel ashamed, or they don't see the point, or they don't know how to do it.
But it is also true that I found another room, a real one this time, in Kamernet. So the experience is mixed. In any case, please, be aware and don't give away money without guarantees. It is important that you check that the bank account they provide you to transfer the money is from the country and not from abroad because the police told me that if that account would have been from outside of the Netherlands they couldn't do anything. So my tip would be: don't let your desperation for finding something to drive your decisions, and make sure you have enough guarantees about the place, especially those that are necessary to present proof in case you have to report it to the police.
